The Senate Democrats campaign arm is pulling the remaining money for TV advertising out of the Florida Senate race with three weeks until Election Day.
This week, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) canceled its remaining ad reservations in support of Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.), a DSCC official confirmed. The move was first reported by the Miami Herald. Earlier this year, the DSCC reserved $10 million to help Murphy, who faces an uphill battle against Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).
The committee has previously shifted money out of the state to invest more heavily in late-breaking Senate races, such as in Missouri and North Carolina, where the incumbent GOP senators look increasingly vulnerable.
The committee has also pulled dollars from the Ohio Senate race, where GOP Sen. Rob Portman holds a consistent, double-digit lead over former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D).
The final cancellation comes a day after the Senate debate between Rubio and Murphy, but DSCC spokeswoman Sadie Weiner told the Herald in an email that the decision was reached prior to Monday nights bout and was "absolutely not a reaction to the debate. Patrick did incredibly well."
Rubio has led every survey in RealClearPolitics polling roundup since early July, though the most recent Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows a much tighter race, with the GOP senator ahead by only 2 points, within the margin of error.
Not surprised. Rubio absolutely slaughtered him in the last debate. Howie Carr was playing the audio of it on his show yesterday.
I almost fell sorry for the Democrat. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NOT!!
I didn’t have a chance to hear that debate. I do enjoy a good verbal beatdown of a Progressive.
Good for Little Marco, although I think the GOPe owed his a cushy lobbyist job in return for all the crap he did for them.
He basically said he was lying about his business experience, he lied about his dual degree and a bunch of other stuff. It was brutal.
Did he need a safe space? :-)
Oh my, yes. I wish I could have seen the video of it.
He’s not going to win with my vote. Due to Rubio’s near daily back stabbing of our POTUS nominee I will not be supporting Rubio at the ballot box.
Put your money in Arizona and Wisconsin.
Losing Ryan (Representative) and McCain (Senator) would be a blessing.
Rubio is a degenrate little prick and weasel.
Not voting for this SOB, he’s retarded.
You’re completely correct and Romney is the perfect example. Rubio didn’t have the enthusiasm behind him that Trump does and the media would’ve buried him. Trump is our only shot at overcoming this beast.
Too bad, the weasel Rubio gets another chance to
“Comprehensively Screw Americans Out Of Their Country”
If Hillary is well on her way to 400 electoral votes, according to that jerk Schmidt, why would they pull out of a state that Hillary will win in a landslide?
Wouldnt people vote down the ballot for the dem senate candidate too?
Rubio wins in a landslide helping Trump take Florida. Marco it.
Local radio reporting that Murphy is surging in support and that Rubio is only 2 pts. ahead. Guess it depends on who you believe.
Hes not going to win with my vote.
I refuse to allow Murphy even close to the Senate. I can’t stand him. Rubio is bad but he is another vote on majority of issues and with the Senate POSSIBLY going Democratic, I can’t take the chance of helping Florida gain a Democratic Senator. Not this election.
Ugh. I can’t stand Murphy. Please don’t send that doosh to Washington. I am voting Rubio. I have too. Murphy is too dangerous.
