Donald Trump’s ‘Make America great again’ slogan and this Republican Congress's actions raise unanswered questions
Recently I appeared at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., for a talk entitled “Making America As Good As Its Promise.” So you don’t confuse the theme of my talk with the slogan of a particular presidential campaign, let me delineate the difference.
When I hear Donald Trump suggest that he wants to “make America great again,” it always triggers the same three questions in my head.
One: How is Trump defining “greatness”? I’m not sure he and I share an understanding of what makes a nation truly great. For me, it starts with how you treat the children, the poor, the aged and infirmed, how you embrace equality as you labor for equity. Equality means that everyone gets the same in America, whether they need it or not. Equity says we commit to ensuring that all fellow citizens have the basic resources that will give them commensurate opportunities to contribute meaningfully to our society....

When slavery started, blacks were here, straight from Africa. They didn’t know the language, anything about “rights”, they were barred from being educated, owning property, and most everything else.
That’s not true today. They’re more educated, know all their “rights” (even some that don’t exist). They are in greater numbers, and they fight back against “oppression” (no matter how imaginary it is).
The only thing that “enslaves” them now is notoriety, and the DNC money stash.

When I hear somebody get “triggered” by anything positive said about America, it “triggers” the word “America hater” in my head. I don’t know why! LOL!
America doesn’t need to enslave blacks... Far too many of them are more than happy to be willing slaves to the government plantation... Dependent on the “generosity” of government... And with all the ambition to do little more than live up to every stereotype that an 1840s Caucasian would have of them.

Note to Travis Smiley: In 1863, Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. In 1933, Franklin Roosevelt bought them back.
One thought- People who are winning by 11 points and confident they will win on Election Day don’t write things like this.
