Donald Trump got a shout-out of sorts from Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during the Italian leader's visit to the White House on Tuesday. At an arrival ceremony on the White House's South Lawn alongside President Obama, Renzi took an indirect jab at the Republican presidential nominee, saying he hoped America's next president would be as inclusive and tolerant as Obama has been. "My personal opinion is that the name of future has to be freedom. The name of the future has to be education not intolerance, sustainability not distraction, trust not hate, bridge[s] not walls," Renzi said.
Renzi followed that not-so-subtle plea with particularly warm words for Obama. "Under your leadership, a country hit by crisis started growing again," Renzi said. "Day after day, you have made changes that improve lives, help the environment, and create opportunities for poor people. I think there are a lot of people who think politics is only about screaming and fighting each other, creating hate and division. You are different, Mr. President. We are different."
Renzi's visit to the White House marks Obama's final state visit of his presidency. The leaders planned to discuss climate change and the migrant crisis during a private meeting, followed by a news conference. On Tuesday night, there will be a state dinner, featuring a performance by Gwen Stefani.
Hell
Where the food is British
The police are German
The cars are French
The lovers are Swiss
....and the whole thing is run by Italians
Every time a Europeon opens his mouth, and says something stupid, 10000 Muslims make it across the sea.
I love it! It brings back the quote made by Dr Goebbels; “Why are the Italians even in this war?”. Better yet Churchill’s answer to Ribbentrop when told they were Germany’s ally; “ We had them in the last war, I guess its your turn now.” Hey, Italians, just keep making those recipes with that delicious “sauce”, and keep out of our politics. Our Government is the oldest lasting one around, how many Governments has Italy had? Io mezzo Italiano, I want Trump as president and a cup of coffee with a canolli.
I miss Berlusconi, he makes Trump look like a choir boy in comparison.
Thank God Italy was in the Axis. The Axis might have won if Italy wasn’t in it.
Because the Italians were routed in the Balkans, the Germans had to delay Operation Barbarossa by six weeks. That made all the difference because they couldn’t get to Moscow before the winter.
Dove il sole non splenderà
The only sane leader of Italy in decades was Berlusconi but of course he was destroyed.
Greece's small but effective Army and Italian incompetence saved Europe from Nazism. The cold war would have been against the Reich instead of the USSR. Not much difference really.
My theory is that if Hitler took Moscow, Stalin gets deposed and a new non-Bolshevik government takes over and rallies the country to victory.
Probably followed by another Russian Civil War. But that would have been the best-case scenario for us.
I had an identity crisis all my life, Half Germanic and half Italian. I would start a fight and then I would surrender quickly.
Cazzo di lui
I think most of Europe hates Trump/Americans.
A lot of the media is pretty much state run, take for instance Sweden which is going down the tubes due to PC and Immigration but you have to dig to find that out.
It’s a fun game. Italy takes Greece quickly. Germany takes Russia quickly. A stalemate then a negotiated peace that frees France. Followed by a Cold War against the Reich with nuclear proliferation almost exactly the same as the real one with USSR only the bad guys would have cooler uniforms. It is like playing Risk.
Well I don’t want Matteo Renzi Italy’s prime minister. So there!
Well I dont want Matteo Renzi to be Italys prime minister. So there!
Vaffanculo, Guido.
Yep - why would we expect a “Democrat” Commie in another country to support other than Hillary?
Now I see perfectly clear why grandpa Nick left that hell hole.
Renzi just came from a visit with bammy. Of course bammy told him what to say. Way to go, renzi! bowing down before the great god of America.
