Donald Trump’s campaign says a British man is countering claims that the GOP presidential nominee groped a woman on a cross-country flight more than three decades ago.
The man says he was sitting across from the accuser and contacted the Trump campaign because he was incensed by her account — which is at odds with what he witnessed.
“I have only met this accuser once and frankly cannot imagine why she is seeking to make out that Trump made sexual advances on her. Not only did he not do so (and I was present at all times) but it was she that was the one being flirtatious,” Anthony Gilberthorpe said in a note provided to The Post by the Trump campaign.
In an exclusive interview arranged by the campaign, Gilberthorpe said he was on the flight — in either 1980 or 1981— where Jessica Leeds claimed Trump groped her.
Gilberthorpe, 54, said he was sitting across the first class aisle from the couple and saw nothing inappropriate. Leeds was wearing a white pantsuit, he said, while Trump was wearing a suit and cuff-links, which he gave to his British flight companion.
Indeed, Gilberthorpe claimed, Leeds was “trying too hard” in her attempt to win Trump over.
“She wanted to marry him,” Gilberthorpe said of Leeds, who apparently made the confession when Trump excused himself and went to the bathroom.
There was no kissing, but the “shrill” Leeds was “very much in your face” with the real estate developer.

“The guy in the seat across the aisle could see. And I kept thinking, maybe the stewardess is going to come and he’ll stop, but she never came,” Leeds told CNN.
That allegation infuriated Gilberthorpe, a retiree living in northwest England, who said, “That I sat there — eyes bulging — and not intervening is nonsense.”

That’s my point. I’m sure in his younger days he had the money to be a playboy figure but I will never believe that he had to grope women. He probably had women voluntarily crawling all over him. I doubt he ever had to beg or chase after a woman.
This story sounds worse than hers. He was 18 traveling in 1st class. He recalls what she was wearing 30 years ago. I can’t recall what my wife was wearing on a plane trip we took 30 years ago.
Well, It seems likely he would remember a ride where he sat across from a famous mega-rich guy who was being hit on by a woman next to him.

Donald held out, at least, for something that made sense in a longer term view.

How about that it’s actually true, that it was a notable scene (that SHE made) and God provided the witness. He was only 18 years old? Isn’t that when young men’s thoughts, if not sooner, turn to thoughts of ... ?
The media will dismiss it as a phony claim because he has no proof he was there.
Evidence is not needed to put the woman on the air, however, because she is a protected class under PC doctrine and gets automatic affirmative action credits that can substitute for any of the standard requirements.

Yeah.... I’m a bit worried about this as you are. It seems a bit odd. As odd as her waiting 30 years to come forward with claims against a billionaire.
I am going to have faith though that the Trump camp went over this with the guy.
If this claim falls apart, they’d be hit for hypocrisy. Going after the times for not fact checking or verifying this woman’s claims, then turning around and making same mistakes with their defense play.
But man I hope this is solid as a rock!

The only thing I’m a bit concerned with about this fella is that the Post article says he came to a bit of fame in 2014 with a claim that as a 17 year old he arranged boys to attend sex parties with parliament members.
Regardless, he should be able to produce witnesses that confirm him being in the states during this time period.

Even if the story is false, the counter arguments (how can he remember etc) work against the original claim.
