CHICAGO (CBS) — A fourth member of Second City’s ETC revue quit after multiple occurrences of offensive behavior from audiences.
33-year-old Peter Kim told WBBM that audiences here in Chicago and across the country where he has toured, seem to feel emboldened by the no-holds-bars, speak-your-mind style of Donald Trump.
“I really think he gave people carte blanche to act and behave hateful,” Kim said. Kim said audiences have gotten more abusive in the past year and has heard people use the ‘f’ word, alluding to a slur against gays.
“The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was a man was sitting next to a Hispanic couple,” Kim said. “We asked a question to another lady, completely different lady, we said, ‘Hey, ma’am, what is something small that pisses you off, like getting stuck in traffic.'”
The man, unsolicited, screamed out, ‘Sitting too close to a Mexican,’ while sitting next to a Hispanic couple.
Kim said there was another time he felt physically threatened by a man who got too close to the stage.

Just for the sake of discussion, let's assume the behavior Peter Kim described actually happened. If he can't handle hecklers or disruptive audience members, he'll never make it as a comedian. I suspect he knows his career was going nowhere,and this is a convenient way of bailing out and saving face.
Provided that there actually was a Mexican in the audience and a guy really did say that.

Yup. The last few times I went to a comedy club (10 years ago or so) I heard comedians tell “jokes” like:
“Republicans are stupid.”
“Christians are stupid.”
George Bush should be in jail.”
These are not jokes. They aren’t remotely “funny”. Now, if the audience wants to yell out offensive things and if the comedians say, “That bothers me”, then maybe the comedians should go back to being funny.
I think the comment about sitting too close to a Mexican was disgusting, however... this cretin would have had no problem at all if the person had substituted “Conservative” for Mexican.
As for caustic audiences, I’ve been in the midst of some very caustic audiences that were Leftist in nature, and that was just super for those on stage. They loved it, fed off of it, and propagated it.
Now the shoe is on the other foot. All I have to say is, FINALLY!
Let’s be honest here, the comment about the Mexican isn’t what bothered them. They didn’t like push-back on their trashing of Trump and Conservatives.
These same folks would be just fine if a “Mexican” joke were told from stage. Artistic license and all...
I think it’s great all the Leftists are quitting. We could use some fresh decent humor in this nation, absent the trashing of decent people and values.

Mrs. INFOOL7 and I haven’t been to see a stand up “comic” in years. The innuendo and subtle digs at our conservative / traditional lifestyle have long become tiresome let alone not entertaining. We refuse to pay to be belittled and insulted. especially when we can turn on the news and get that treatment for free.
Trump has opened the door to the great quiet seething rage that virtuous people have been harboring silently for decades.

The sourpuss left has no sense of humor, because they are so puritanically self-righteous. They simply cannot allow that they are 1) silly, 2) capable of error, 3) exempt from scrutiny or lampooning.
