US Navy Ship Fired On In Red Sea AGAIN

Yemeni rebels fired on the USS Mason in The Red Sea Wednesday at 6am ET.

The strike originated from south of the town of Al Hudayah, not far from Yemen’s capital of Sana’a. The area is controlled by the Iranian backed Houthi insurgent group.

Defense officials report that the vessel was fired on by a Cruise Missile, which failed hit its intended target. The US destroyer class ship fired countermeasure projectiles to prevent it from being damaged. No sailors aboard the USS Mason were harmed.

The same ship, and also the amphibious USS Ponce, were victims of a similar attack on Sunday, making this the second event of this type in four days. The Houthi rebel group denied involvement in this attack, though did claim responsibility for the destruction of a former US Navy vessel, the HSV-2 Swift, in the same area on October 1. At that time the Swift was under lease by the United Arab Emirates.

The USS Mason forms part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group stationed around the entrance to the Red Sea with the aim of preventing arms deliveries to the Houthi Rebels and to prevent actions of piracy.

The US has come under a barrage of criticism for being mired in the conflict in Yemen, which is essentially a proxy war between US ally Saudi Arabia and Iran. The Saudi airstrikes against the Houthi rebels have been responsible for a number of civilian deaths.

HUH? I was at the Commissioning of the USS Mason in Port Canaveral. I coulda sworn there were some defense componenets on board. Why is there any question as to response. You come under fire, you frickin' return fire. With prejudice. Well, unless you fear causing an international incident. Say what?

Any reports on what type of missiles are being used? Iran has several different types of anti-ship missiles.

Is Obama going to draw a red line for us here???

Remember he said there was a red line crossed in Syria over the use of chemical weapons?? But he never followed through so he looked like a (fill in the blank).

Did his allegedly inspiring speech to the Muslim world in Cairo really endear us to the Arab/Muslim world???

Has support of overthrow of governments and the rise of ISIS and terrorist run countries, made the world safer??

Has the Clinton Obama foreign policy accomplish anything positive?? We know she has stamina because she visited 112 countries . But do our enemies fear us??

Why is there any question as to response. You come under fire, you frickin' return fire.

Because it's more than likely that those who fired the missiles are US operatives. The idea is to pretend to provoke the US so US forces can go in and slaughter the Yemeni Houthis because the Saudis can't do it themselves.

.
Hudaydah is the largest Red Sea port of Yemen and is quite a distance from the capital, Sana’a. I made the trip in a Toyota Landcruiser and it took me a day on a winding mountain road. The city of Taiz lies between Sana’a and Hodaydah.

You’re right. And they are, kinda. It’s only 90 miles away as the crow flies. Problem is, the crow doesn’t get you there.

Why didn’t we just move off instead of firing 3 million dollars in cruise misses?

The USN has to block EVERY ONE of their attempts.

The Houthis only have to succeed once.
