It is obvious there was an attempt to remove Trump from the top of the Republican ticket but was there a subtle second effort to lose the senate majority as well. By casting Republicans in congress against Trump who was elected by a majority of Republicans a deliberate increase in hostility was created between the base and Republicans running for office.
It is important we are not manipulated into throwing out a Republican based on what the news reported what a Republican candidate said. Do not fall into their traps they know your anger and will use it against you.
There will be plenty of time to deal with these people when Trump wins, and for some reason he does not it wont matter anyway.
McStain has to go.
Good point. I didn’t think of that - but it makes sense.
Good points, throwing out Republican majorities would be like turning on Trump, the alternative is unthinkable.
“By casting Republicans in congress against Trump who was elected by a majority of Republicans a deliberate increase in hostility was created between the base and Republicans running for office.”
I guess I’m in a critical mood.
The above is a big “Wut?”
It makes no sense, and isn’t factually accurate.
I think i understand what you are getting at - that not only was the pushy gate supposed to knock out Trump but to create such an internal civil war in doing so, with some Republicans calling for him to quit the race, that a backlash would cause the Repiblicans to lose the House and/or Senate.
I considered that argument and actually have made several attempts at a post in favor of keeping the Congress while electing Trump.
But I just couldn’t get my heart into it.
What difference does it make whether we fight an openly labeled opposition called Democrats or support a stealth opposition called Republicans when they have the same agenda and it isn’t favorable to the people? They are one and the same.
A Republican Congress will fight Trump alongside the Democrats. Let Mr. Trump take a page from zer0’s playbook and use his pen and his phone. Eventually, honest candidates can arise. If they don’t, it is no reason to vote for lying crap weasels.
zer0 neutered Congress while they stood by and made no effort in their own defense. They can’t take their own side in a fight, why would we want them ostensibly on our side? They won’t fight in that position, either.
I’m sure they could all get a with-Trump photo op in short order if they desired.
It doesn’t not matter. The entire Senate and House aare Democrats. Some call themselves Republicans but they answer to the same boss. And Congress has abdicated, ceded all of its power to the Executive, to the President and to the Agencies. The Executive functions now as a collective dictatorship. Trump as President will initiate a power struggle at the top between the Democrat Agencies and the President. Congress is not even in the game. Congress is in the stands duly supporting the Agencies that they have empowered.
I don't see myself voting for ANYONE who's already spent any length of time in "public service".
The Trump Pussy Tape was release by GOP NEOCONS.
Irrespective of the election outcome, an important line has been crossed, and we cannot return to the former way.
Over 1/2 of the GOP is arrayed against ORDINARY AMERICANS.
They don’t like us and we shouldn’t “be BIG about it”.
REMEMBER.
I think they actually believed that Trump would quit.
I think part of the problem is that the rich, fat, and self-satisfied GOPe (and Democrats) in the country club set have no idea how miserable, scarred, and angry people that support Trump are.
They think Trump is just a magician that has seduced a bunch of hicks into following him. They have little personal knowledge of just how bad things are in Mainstreet USA. Not that most of them would care if they did.
Trumpism is not about Trump in the end, its about his supporters. They don’t understand that...
A week ago, I sent an email to my senator, Johnny Isakson’s office displaying my dismay at his statement that he’d have no problem working with Hillary. I did not even get a form letter in return.
The GOP nevertrump faction, and those silent in their opposition to Trump and his voters are why the Congress is at risk. The GOP would have sailed to victory even in the event of a Trump loss if they simply would have supported our nominee.
makes as much sense as anything
I wrote mine too, told him to get behind Trump. No response yet.
If we don’t vote the turncoats out, how do we send a message?
I say we let Trump figure it out, then follow his lead.
First off, they are too self-centered to threaten their career. They want to stop Trump because he is the threat to their career.
Second, if they remain in the majority they can stop Trump all by themselves, so why give up their positions of power, and how could they be sure that Democrats would deliver anyway.
What if Hillary gets elected anyway, wouldn't that mean they sacrificed their careers for nothing?
Answer those questions and perhaps I might consider your theory, but I honestly do not see how they envision that helping themselves at all.
But then again we are talking about Republican politicians who seem to be defeatists in the first place. Even when the have an awesome winning hand they fold as soon as someone raises the stakes beyond their comfort zone.
Look at it this way...if Trump were NOT ahead and FAR ahead there is no way that the Dems and Republicans would be throwing so much garbage out there. It’s incredible.
