Maine Gov. Paul LePage: Maybe the country needs Trump to show 'authoritarian power'
CNN ^ | 10/11/2016 | Chris Massie

Maine Gov. Paul LePage stood by Donald Trump in a radio interview on Tuesday, saying that the United States might need someone like the GOP nominee to show "authoritarian power," and dismissing concerns over an audiotape leaked last week that showed Trump describing how he forces himself upon women.

"Sometimes, I wonder that our Constitution is not only broken, but we need a Donald Trump to show some authoritarian power in our country and bring back the rule of law because we've had eight years of a president, he's an autocrat, he just does it on his own, he ignores Congress and every single day, we're slipping into anarchy," LePage said on Maine radio station WVOM.

The Kenyanesian Usurpation was brought to you by BOTH parties.

The Constitution says natural born citizen.
That means one who is naturally an American because they couldn’t be anything else, born here of citizen parents.
Everyone in DC wanted that changed without the hassle of amending the Constitution.
The Senate passed a resolution declaring McCain a natural born citizen because he had TWO citizen parents, even though he was born in Panama.
Then Obama runs and wins based on just being born here, even though he told us on his website he was born a British subject.
So the standard went from born here of citizen parents to just TWO citizen parents to just being born here in one election cycle without amending the Constitution.
This was done intentionally because Rubio (no citizen parents), Cruz (foreign birth, one citizen parent), Jindal (no citizen parents), and Haley (no citizen parents) were all ineligible and the future of the GOP.

The truth of the Kenyanesian Usurpation will never see the light of day because they all cooperated in the violation of the Constitution.

Nice try. That is not what I expect or want from Trump. That is not what Trump is.

He simply wants intelligent policy, (ie...deals) made from a perspective that value to America is the prime value. This guy is a jackass if he wants Trump to be a junior Pinochet.

Slow your roll. He’s trying to help. Poor choice of words, that’s all. Hillary surrogates are busy trashing rape victims today. That’s the real “dumb ass” moment of the day.

Agreed on both fronts. There quite likely is important context and perspective to LePage’s comments.

Better phrasing may be: we need an Executive who understands the definition & boundaries of the job, and is willing to fully exercise the role to its proper limits (like, actually cut spending to no more than revenue, or refuse to implement laws which plainly are forbidden by the Constitution).

Why are some on our side shocked/disappointed with this comment? An authoritarian is exactly who Hillary is and will be (please read the WikiLeaks). It’s also who we have had with Obama.

We’ve already seen real authoritarian power wielded by Obama through his executive orders, bypassing the congress, and rejecting court rulings against him.

The liberals should be freaking out over what’s already happened.

One of the things that made me nervous about Trump in 2015 was that the comments some of his supporters made, unfortunately made me think of the strong man in the road to serfdom. It was not lost on me last week when Michael Medved called him “the Stron man”. I know where he got it from.

And if you need a refresher, here it is in PDF format.

I’m not saying I believe it, but it is always a risk with a charismatic leader with REALLY STRONG populist support.

If so, this remark will knock their mistake off the air.

40% populist support and maybe 10% Independents is not strong, we're still a split nation.

Not at all. IT will barely make the top 10 of Trump attacks on CNN. They are full Hitler mode now.

“No. We’ve seen too much of that with BO already.”

Sometimes to get back to the middle you have to go radical in the other direction. Over the years, the libs took us far to the left then the RINO’s only came back a little.

How is he trying to help? By talking in oxymoronic terms? Authoritarian power never brings back the rule of law but ends it; that’s the lesson of history.

I live in Maine, and I heard that interview with Paul LePage on WVOM-FM radio’s “Maine in the Morning.”

The governor calls in every Tuesday morning for a 10 - 15 minute radio interview.

One thing Paul LePage is NOT, and that’s a dumb ass. He is the most conservative governor in the country.

The governor’s comments meant that he wants Trump to roll up his sleeves and not take any crap from anyone; to restore our country and our Constitution. He was NOT calling for a dictator....we already have that in Obama and a compliant congress.

The governor runs Maine with the same attitude. Maine was a sanctuary state before this governor was elected. Within two days after taking office in January 2011, Gov. LePage ended that sanctuary BS. Gov. LePage drives the liberals in Maine absolutely bat-$hit crazy....they can’t stand him.

The last thing the governor said in that interview....”I would rather have Trump with his foot in his mouth than Hillary with her hand in my pocket.”
