Boondoggle: How Ontario’s pursuit of renewable energy broke the province’s electricity system
Financial Post ^ | 06 October 2016 | Terence Corcoran

Back in 2010, deep green environmentalist Rick Smith, then head of Environmental Defence Canada, hailed Ontario’s Green Energy and Green Economy Act regime as a cost-free operation that would catapult the province into the big leagues of renewable energy. Through fat subsidies and high prices offered to wind, solar and other renewable industry players, jobs and growth would boom and Ontario would be free of its dirty coal plants. It was the End of Coal, the government said. The birth of a renewable miracle.

Asked whether the plan might lead to higher prices for consumers, “No,” said Dr. Smith — he likes to be called doctor in recognition of his PhD in biology. “No. Not at all.”

Smith was absolutely sure that Ontario’s campaign to become the North American leader in renewable energy would not be a burden on consumers. He had the facts, the study, and the numbers. Renewable is doable. “We’ve done some modelling on this and we’re talking a penny’s increase to your average person’s electricity bill,” he said.

People are having to choose between keeping warm and eating and having lights.

meteorology computer modeling forecast Hurricane Matthew would have little effect on Eastern North Carolina.

Computer modeling is an imperfect science, IMO.

So, the people of Ontario bought in to a radical new energy regime, being promoted by a man who never signed the front of a paycheck?

Tell me they’re not surprised by the result.

But the Marxists had such good intentions...

The Ontario green electricity regime is a monumental failure. The costs to consumers are prohibitive and damaging the economy. The environmental and health benefits are debatable and likely non-existent. Worst of all, while the few jobs that have been created are mostly temporary, the high prices it foisted on consumers are permanent.

The Ontario green electricity regime is a monumental failure.

That's an understatement but more importantly, what they have been doing in Ontario sounds very much like what Clinton talked about last night as her plan when she gets elected.

The comments were even better. Very informed people and the word “Liberal” was cited often and with contempt.

As it has been noted, idealism, when given power is coercive and oppressive because of its absolutism.

They only doubled the cost of electricity where in California it has tripled! It is all artificial to and not the actual cost of producing.

Cost by state. The difference is being used to pay the pensions and anything else that the politicians can dream up.
Louisiana 9.06
California 18.49 <- more then double for same electricity!

Stick it to those that are efficient.

The Ontario green electricity regime is a monumental failure.

I was talking to an electric utility employee near San Francisco two weeks ago. He said that the morons in California are going to shut down Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power plant (mulitple units) because they can replace the power with, you guessed it, renewable energy.

Everybody who has tried this insanity has failed so California will do it again. Remember the rolling brownouts and blackouts a few years ago? This time it will be much worse.

Anyone with a brain knows you have to have a reliable, base load mixture of plants. Wind turbines and solar panels aren't even close to meeting that goal. America's FIRST Muslim President doesn't like renewable energy because of the environment, the Muslim traitor likes it because it helps destroy the US economy.

Another, sure-to-happen boondoggle if Hillary is elected. Obama was all in on “green energy” and so will Hillary. The result? Tripling of energy costs to the average consumer and a net loss of jobs. Then just wait until those solar panels fade off and need replacement - Canada isn’t there yet but those suckers are mega-costly.

This is a long article, but it is DEVISTATING to green energy leftists. The government bought their LIES hook, line, and sinker. They implemented green energy that replaced inexpensive coal.

After spending a fortune of tax dollars, indebting the taxpayers for many years to come, energy costs DOUBLED and touted health benefits and cost savings were non-existent.

This is the conclusion at the end of the article, but I strongly suggest reading and bookmarking the entire article for future use against these lying green weenies.
