GOP senators: We could work with Hillary Clinton
the Hill ^ | October 03, 2016, 06:31 pm | By Jordain Carney

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) is predicting that congressional Republicans will be more willing to work with Hillary Clinton than they have been with President Obama, should she be elected president.

"She is a known commodity, and I think there’ll be more camaraderie in terms of working together, than there might have been in the early days of Obama," Isakson told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Isakson, who is running for reelection and has endorsed GOP nominee Donald Trump, added, "I don’t think it will be like the post-Obama election at all."

Isakson's comments come as Clinton has narrowly trailed Trump in the typically red state, feeding Democrats hopes of expanding the electoral map. According a RealClearPolitics average of polls, the GOP presidential nominee is leading by less than 5 points.

The Georgia Republican isn't the only one who is open to collaborating with a hypothetical Clinton administration, even though multiple congressional committees are still probing her time atop the State Department.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Clinton would find a "willing partner" on immigration reform, bolstering the military and a Simpson-Bowles-type of initiative to improve federal spending, should she win.

"I can do two things at once. I can criticize and I can cooperate," he told The Hill last month. "I don't see that they're inconsistent."

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas)—while stressing that he doesn't believe Clinton will win in November—said Americans expect GOP senators to work with whoever is in the White House.

"We'll do our duty, you know regardless of who is president," the Senate's No. 2 Republican told The Hill last week. "The people we serve want us to to work together for their benefit so that's certainly my posture."

Cornyn declined to name specific issues that he believes he and Clinton could work well together on.

Disgusting. They're already preemptively surrendering and she hasn't even been elected.

Of course they could. They are RINOs and already don’t do much heavy lifting of any kind.

She is a known commodity...

In the sense that she's for sale, yes.

The only programs that Hillary has actively touted involve increasing social regimentation: gun control, raising taxes, more redistribution, further socializing of healthcare. It isn't the sort of thing one would expect a GOP Senator who is representing his voters to "work with" her on. It is ironic that Trump is being criticized for being to prone to turn to the Art Of The Deal when the sitting Senate is already bending over with its pants around its collective ankles.

And yet, we vote for them, year after year, because they have an "R" next to their name, and "R" is better than "D", or something...

The R vs D paradigm is dead. The new one is Nationalists vs Transnational Progressives.

Exactly. It's a great illusion, isn't it? Oh, they let slip in a conservative or two now and then, just to make noise, but in the end, they are the UniParty rulers and we are the peasants watching a great Kabuki Theater.

I am convinced the Clintons are heads of an international crime syndicate and that reticence on the part of Congress, and failures in the past referencing as far back as Trent Lott, have enabled this pair to establish themselves as images of high corruption.

Whereas America in the past was viewed as the grand example to follow, the image projected by the Clintons is one that normalizes corruption, lies, injustice.

Each Senator of honor and integrity should be standing up and stating “Although the numbers today do not exist to impeach and convict certain high officials of high crimes, I will never cease to persuade my fellow members to take action against such officials as their crimes come to light. I will not work with any President who blatantly lies and compromises America’s national security period”.

-More willing to work with Hillary? How can they willingly work with anyone more than they have willingly with Obama.
