Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, and we await the long anticipated sharp turn northward. Jamaica is completing final storm preparations. All interests in the Eastern U.S. and Bahamas should be carefully watching the track of Mighty Matthew.
Ripped straight from the NHC Discussion page:
Matthew remains south of a low-to mid-level ridge over
the western Atlantic. The dynamical models forecast this ridge to
weaken over the next 72 hours as a mid- to upper-level trough develops
over the Gulf of Mexico. This evolution should cause Matthew to turn
northwestward after 24 hours and northward by 48-72 hours. The guidance
generally agrees with this scenario. However, there is a spread between
the GFS forecast of landfall in Jamaica and eastern Cuba and the ECMWF
forecast landfall in southwestern Haiti. The guidance becomes more
divergent after 72 hours.

Seems like a plausible explanation...
Pfffttt...gnats!
OMG—it is much worse than feared.
A complete circle?? Then heading out to the Gulf? Am I seeing that graphic correctly...?
I wish him luck and I’ll have to ask about FIL the next time I get to the New Englander.
Nah.
I just used one I've had for over 20 years. They've changed the fittings since then and they will not refill the old bottles...that's all. I can still use the old bottles, the gas is still good.
The new fittings/bottles have incorporated and automatic shut-off if the bottles are turned over. They will accept the old (female) or the new (male) fittings....the new bottles have male and female fittings. They will not refill the old female only bottles.
I also have the capability to refill the small (usually green) one pound bottles.
I did my homework.
My ex is in Boca. He’ll be a bit breezy.
I like your suggestion! I’ve been known to boil water on the grill and pour it through a coffee maker basket lined with a filter & coffee grounds into the carafe. Leave the basket ‘open’ with the carafe below. Not the same as the Keurig, but definitely desirable when the power is out.
Well, that graphic certainly explains the massive westbound traffic jam this afternoon.

Georgetown, Bahamas is a bit breezy as well.
Btw... My sister doesn’t have storm shutters. Anyway, they are retired and they plan to go down as soon as possible if there is damage.
George Inness - a world class painter - has some his his most beautiful works in a small Tarpon Springs Church... he painted on the plywood used to cover broken windows after a storm...
Yowser!!!! Definitely did a double-take at the wind speed and gust!
There are parts of A1A that are already very iffy...north of Daytona .by Fernandina..

Eye of #Matthew appears to be clearing. Likely a sign of a period of strengthening. LIVE:
