Hurricane Matthew is big, bad and just downright scary, and we await the long anticipated sharp turn northward. Jamaica is completing final storm preparations. All interests in the Eastern U.S. and Bahamas should be carefully watching the track of Mighty Matthew.
Ripped straight from the NHC Discussion page:
Matthew remains south of a low-to mid-level ridge over
the western Atlantic. The dynamical models forecast this ridge to
weaken over the next 72 hours as a mid- to upper-level trough develops
over the Gulf of Mexico. This evolution should cause Matthew to turn
northwestward after 24 hours and northward by 48-72 hours. The guidance
generally agrees with this scenario. However, there is a spread between
the GFS forecast of landfall in Jamaica and eastern Cuba and the ECMWF
forecast landfall in southwestern Haiti. The guidance becomes more
divergent after 72 hours.

Where are you at? In a Southeast hurricane, especially while it’s still in Southern Summer, that 26kW would keep you central air going!
The WORST part of a hurricane for me is AFTER the storm passes, when I’m sweltering and wilting due to the heat and humidity without power.
My house is new and was NOT built like the old timey houses with tall windows and wrap around porches. I got about 5000 sq ft of black asphalt roof tiles! Heat magnet!

Ugh, I don’t even want to think about dealing with the bugs in south FL during a power outage. Better hope the screens are all in place, intact and no holes.

In Palm Beach, just east of West Palm Beach. Find Southern Blvd. on a map of WPB, and take it across the intracoastal. Directly over the Southern Blvd. bridge on the north side is Mar-a-Lago.

Yes. He said the hurricane is going to come in around Brevard county and go up the ooast and everyone should listen to Rick Scott because this is a big hurricane. He did not say it would come inland.

We installed the “Bug Master” equipment. Their solution didn’t really do the trick. I setup a controlled study using, “Bayer Advanced”, insect killer. I found that it stayed in suspension to 10% by volume. I made a 2 liter solution and charged it to the system. The system dilutes the stock solution with water. It is programmed to spray three times a day, 7:00AM, 5:00PM and 7:00PM.
You can be on the patio at those evening times.
Tom Terry said to listen to 96.5 for updates during the storm. Lake county will get 40-60 mph winds. (For some reason, all Apopka gets is 53?) Orlando and Seminole county can get 80 mph wind gusts.
Bastardi just posted that this particular part of the FL coast hasn’t seen a major ‘cane since the mid 1800’s.

When I evacuated today I took a last look at it and our neighborhood and wondered what I will see when I return.
Big house, two AC’s (5 & 3 ton units). Salt water pool, the pump runs 10hrs/day, every day.
