During a town hall with members of the military, President Obama was asked what he thought of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernicks protest against the national anthem prior to football games.
Obama appeared to equate the two positions pointing out that he wanted Kaepernick to understand why people might be angry at his protest, while also urging military families to listen to the NFL players who joined Kaepernick by drawing attention to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Obama reminds me of a manure spreader in a wind tunnel.
Obie’s got it backwards, to no one’s surprise. The NFL players had better start listening to those veterans and their families who will still talk to them. Knock off the disrespect or get turned off.
EVERY other team.
Dear SoCal Pubbie,
(I hail, as being born six blocks up from the Queen Mary, and returning as an adult, between Victorville, San Bernardino, and Rialto.)
The year was 1972. The Vietnam Airwar was in full swing, B52s lifting off every 30 seconds, 24/7/365. Not only that, but we had ChiCom frogmen attempt a beach sortie to infiltrate and destroy some B52s on the pad.
I was too busy doing my jobs, both as assigned to my duty squadron, and the Security Police squadron walking the fence at night, to give you the ‘back homne’ details, but it happened, and I experienced it.
So by went on strike, you don’t mean the players walked out in a union action, correct?
Dear SoCal,
re: “So by went on strike, you dont mean the players walked out in a union action, correct?”
THAT is exactly what they did! And in doing so, the NFL head offices refused to send already played games on film, to the troops overseas.
In 1972, there was no such thing as videotape machines, for the public.
They were reel-to-reel films.
Wikipedia says there were strikes in 1970 and 1974, neither of which affected league games, I was 15 in 1972 and have no memory of any NFL games cancelled as a result of any work stoppage.
Dear soCal,
I am so disappointed that anyone takes ‘wiki’ as gospel, ever since it was found out in recent years, that existing content was being tampered with by both sides in scrubbing details from the records, of any subject.
Now, for a reward of your diligence, I suggest you go to YouTube, and type “U-Tapao” in the search, and include the dash. There you will find what went on, during my three years there, starting when I was nary two years from high school graduation.
I didn’t know that the NFL scheduled games in Thailand in 1972.
Dear SoCal,
re:
“I didnt know that the NFL scheduled games in Thailand in 1972.”
Your attempt at levity fails.
I shall waste no more time with thee.
Okay, we’ll just leave it at there was no NFL strike in 1972. Thanks for your service anyway.
What does the military have to do with police shootings or “racial oppression??!!”
Obama is an avowed Racist.
‘NUFF SAID !!!
