Mika Brzezinski used an unfortunate metaphor on today’s Morning Joe to describe Hillary and Trump’s different approaches to preparing for Monday’s first presidential debate. Said Mika: “you think of like the two law students preparing for the bar. The guy is polishing his car to calm down. And the girl is studying up to the last minute.”
Mika is apparently unaware that Hillary flunked the DC bar exam after graduating from Yale law school in 1973. 67% of the people taking the exam at the same time passed, putting Hillary in the bottom third. Maybe instead of studying, she was too busy . . . polishing Bill’s car.

In Mika’s defense, the number of things that don’t relate to one Clinton scandal or another is a vanishingly small set.
My guess is that there are lots of things Mika doesn’t know.

Actually, the polishing your car to relax choice is a good one. I did not study just before a test, but I’m outside the norm. For some reason I breeze through tests. That is, they pretty effectively reflect what I know and don’t know.
I remember taking the real estate exam in Seattle. I studied a lot up to the day before and then “polished my car to relax”. The test was easy. I was the first one done and was only concerned with a couple of answers on a test with a LOT of questions.

The license of Barack and Michelle Obama were not revoked. They voluntarily chose to “retire” from the practice of law and surrendered their active licenses.
The obvious reason for doing so is that an attorney is no longer engaged in the practice of law. The advantage of doing so is that one is no longer obligated to pay annual fees, to comply with continuing education requirements, or subject to legal discipline from the bar.
For both of the Obamas, their law licenses were largely empty credentials used to advance themselves in politics. Neither one was actually a significant attorney.
Mika is a perfect example of what us old guys used to call a “Ditz”.

Too, there are a lot of lawyers out there who failed the bar the first time as well. The first-time failure percentage is somewhere around 30%, though it varies depending on the school. A good chunk end up taking the exam 3-4 times. Of course, as the saying goes, “what do you call the guy who graduated last in his class at medical school? Doctor”. There are a LOT of crappy lawyers out there, and there’s no doubt that most of the really brilliant ones e.g. Alan Dershowitz probably got through on their first attempt.
Hillary was demonstrably a mediocre lawyer at best, viz her ejection from the Watergate trial for ethics violations and other idiocy. But first-time failing the bar is not, IMHO, the best angle to attack from.
Nope. Go look at the inflation valves on tractor-trailers. Those tires run at 100lb+ and carry huge loads, yet use schrader valves, while my Fatbike tires, which are generally run at 12lb use presta valves.

She ‘retired’ long before coming to Washington, DC. Lawyers, even those who don’t practice law, tend to keep their licenses, especially relatively young lawyers, as Michelle Obama was at the time she ‘retired’ her license. Most bars allow lawyers to take ‘inactive’ status. No really viable reason for a young attorney to just ‘retire’ her license.
Even before coming to DC, Michelle Obama was a community outreach shill for U of Chicago hospital, making $300K+ a year. Certainly a few hundred $ bar dues would not be an issue. Excuse away all you will. There is something ‘fishy’ here.
