Funny I don’t see him as a dad.
She’s a very stupid woman.
Good for the Judge.
Good for you, Bill!
The poor kids in the middle of this mess.
.
It is very unfortunate that such family disputes have to play out in public.
1-0 for the Loofah.
Jokes on Billy. He’ll be paying the fine with alimony payments anyway.
$310.000 for a week? What a pinhead.
The oldest trick in the book.
Some moms trash the dad unmercifully in their absence. They tell the kids he doesn’t want to see them. Then she prompts them and helps them make plans for periods when they are supposed to be with him. Kids buy into it and the dad comes off looking like a bad guy.
In these situations enforcing your rights makes you look like the bad guy too. What dad is going to win a custody battle when the kid has been promised Disneyland with their friends or a visit your dad, which do you want to do?
I’ve seen this play out. It’s not a pretty picture. The kids ultimately lose. The dad loses, and the moms knowing what they did lose too.
Always wise to force your child to see you when they don’t want to and take mom to court to be fined. Builds trust and great relationships
The children are usually the emotional losers in these contested divorce cases.
I betcha the minute BOR walks though his front door, the phony “populist” Schlick goes away and the elitist prick that he really is emerges...
Just my guess...
Good for Bill. He may be an ass, but he is a dad. As a divorced dad, I sympathize with him in this situation.
“nothing in the law permits a child of M’s age to determine parental access”
This is such poppycock. A 17 year old person is more than able to know their mind about which parent they wish to be with. We have infantilized older teenagers to the a ridiculous degree. Years ago, many were married in their early teens and lived responsible, adult lives.
If I were that young lady, and my father took my mother to court to punish her for not forcing me to go visit with my father (assuming I did not want to go), I would cut off all relations with him for both reasons of not respecting my wishes and for punishing my mother in the legal system for defending and respecting me as a person.
LOL

Is this the wife he dragged down the stairs by the hair?
I feel sorry for the O’Reilly family, it’s always sad when a court swoops in and steals money for itself through a fine. The judge essentially stole $310K from the child’s inheritance. If the law was truly just that $310,000 fine would be put into a trust for the child.
This story illustrates how traumatic divorce is for children. When divorce rates went up in the late 70/early 80s there was a lot of attention on it. Now, because it is so common, its overlooked and treated as something akin to breaking up with a high school significant other.
As a result, many children simply withdraw or give up in the matter. To grow up and see your family unit break apart prior to the divorce. After the divorce, having to deal with sharing time with parents (and in many cases the parents using their kids to get back at their ex spouse) and typically having to accept strangers as step parents and part of a family without consideration.
