Russia, China and Iran dont have a First Amendment, and their governments regularly clamp down on free speech. So why would we want to end American protection of the open Internet and transfer it to Moscow, Beijing and Tehran instead?
On Oct. 1, the Obama administration plans to end the U.S. Government contract with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN. Doing so would kick off a transition that could irreparably harm the open Internet, leading to censorship abroad that could, quite realistically, lead to censorship right here in the United States. Under this transition of Internet oversight, China, Russia and Iran, which have all demonstrated their contempt for Internet freedom by blocking websites and restricting Internet access to their own citizens, would be newly empowered to block specific websites from users all over the world, including in the United States.

ICANN, a Pack of Liars

source: Paul Rosenzweig, a cyber-war insider
Wednesdays’s senate hearing regarding the Internet Giveaway revealed that ICANN has been not merely dishonest but truth is alien to them.
Senator Grassley found no solid reason to believe that our .gov and .mil websites will be left alone. [Which means no website is safe]. That lack of assurance seems very odd to him.
According to Paul Rosenzweig [a cyber-war insider and former Homeland Administrator who wrote extensively about freedom-of-speech concerns] the only thing protecting the .mil and .gov websites is empty assurances in letters that have no legal value whatsoever.
To put it bluntly:
The senator and Rosenzweig both smell a rat.

Paul Rosenzweig’s Testimony
Quote:
“[The assurances were] made through an exchange of letters. Not only are the letters non-legally binding, they actually acknowledge the possibility that at some point a separation of the IANA function from ICANN might threaten the stability and security of the US governments top level domains. I cant speak for other observers, but for me, as a lawyer, an exchange of letters is a way of avoiding a contractually enforceable obligation. I know why ICANN would prefer that course of action I have no idea why the NTIA would accept it on behalf of the US government.” — Rosenzweig
~~~
How will .com and .org sites be globally governed? I guess it depends on the new friends ICANN leaders have.
Rosenzweig: “The IANA transition is a leap in the dark. Nobody can reasonably tell you that there is certainty about how it will work out.”
ICANN Secretly Planning to Move Overseas
A clear example of a lie by ICANN: they claim that they will remain under US jurisdiction and remain based in California. That’s not only a lie but a tricky, oily kind of deceit.
. . .
Testimony by Paul Rosenzweig:
“ICANN is a non-profit corporation incorporated in California. Some say that this is a check on ICANNs activities, since it would be subject to suit in Americas impartial, professional court system. Indeed, in July, Assistant Secretary Strickling confidently declared ICANN is a California corporation and will remain so.’
“I wish I were as confident as Assistant Secretary Strickling... The idea that ICANN would pack up and move has been contemplated by ICANNs leadership.
“Back in June 2014, ICANN CEO Fadi Chehade announced, in testimony to the French Senate, that the Board had authorized him to begin, as one of five major initiatives, the creation of a ‘parallel legal, international structure (maybe in Switzerland) for ICANN.’
“These changes were recommended even though some Members of Congress have explicitly opposed this outcome.”
— Rosenzweig
He also revealed their sneaky lies about maintaining current ownership of ‘.mil’ and ‘.gov’ sites further down in his testimony. They broke one promise after another every step of the way of this planning process.
ICANN’s leadership is packed with liars.
But what do you expect? Obama sides with them.
[I do assume that philanthropist Esther Dyson is a blessing to the Free World. But she has lost influence in ICANN.]
Another mess Mr. Trump will have to clean up.
the powers that be are selling us sh## we will not buy so they will prevent you from speaking your mind and finding the truth about them and their plans for you
There is plenty of censorship right here in the US. Higher Ed has more speech codes than socialist Germany did in WWII.
It is for Islamic terrorists and al Qaeda
that this is given away.
Pentagon bombed and this is given away.
Pentagon bombed and al Qaeda is armed.
Rome’s loss is nothing compared to what 19 savages
did as America GAVE UP under an Islamic impostor.
ICANN Transition Even Endangers ‘.gov’ and ‘.mil’
ICANN transition insider Paul Rosenweig warns:
1. Foreign powers will “indisputably have increased influence”.
2. Transition a “leap in the dark”.
3. ICANN planning to move overseas.
4. ‘.gov’ and ‘.mil’ “not assured by any enforeable mechanism”.
Basics for Understanding Obama’s Internet Giveaway
— and listing/linking the senators and news sources sounding the horn.
No one has yet explained how Trump will be able to renew the contract if a new contract is signed overseas.
I do believe everything will be put on hold because remember, the USA is a partner nation, like it or not.
‘There is plenty of censorship right here in the US.’
We see a little censorship here in the US. What about the censorship in Kosovo during the Tito regime? The region was transformed from Christian to muslim over a period of thirty years or less, and the world knew nothing about HOW that was done.
Censorship in Europe had brought on their current refugee crisis. It festered, unreported, for decades.
Postponing an expired contract only buys Trump time — if that desperate scheme even works.
And they’ve done an excellent job of muzzling conservatives about this transition already. The ‘din of small voices’ is locked in an echo chamber right now. It’s weird.
You’re right. This would be the greatest triumph for Islam yet.
At the same time, it could also mean China’s grip on its people tightens until they can use futuristic tech to control them completely.
Here’s the end of her op-ed:
The Internet was conceived, built, developed, and grown to fruition long before Barack Obama became president. It was done at the hands of U.S. scientists and engineers, working with funds taken from U.S. taxpayers. The Internet is U.S. property. President Obama has no authority to give it away without explicit authority granted him by the U.S. Congress.
Sen. Cruz and Rep. Duffy understand that. Do leader McConnell and Speaker Ryan?
Anyone who trusts Obama with something this important ought to rethink what he’s trying to do.
Obama does not have the unilateral authority to relegislate our agreement with ICANN.
Paul Rosenzweig noted: “The Chairmen of the four relevant committees (Senate and House, Judiciary and Commerce), however, have called for the administration to reconsider its decision.”
This is a scheme designed to confuse people — Ryan and McConnell are so far counting on ‘defunding’ to keep a contract from being expired.
I do not recall defunding something ever preventing the expiration of a contract.
What if the Mark of the Beast is going to be an IPv6 address assigned to each person? Have to have the One World Government incharge of the assigning to do that. The 666 in Hebrew in vav vav vav. WWW
Thanks for posting.
Other than the election and terrorism, this is the biggest item now...I have heard nothing from Trump nor his team. That is distressing. Calling or write your reps does nothing until their terms are limited. Until then, we work for them. If control of the net is lost, not sure how Trump corrects it. It must be stopped and his voice is all we have.
Wow, I didn’t know that.
And it makes sense that the Mark of the Beast would be an implant with web addresses in its software.
But first I believe we will one day have worldwide freedom of speech. The Gospels would truly be available to all people. Some argue that ‘all nations’ have heard the word. That’s true, and I could be mistaken.
Maybe it’s a gut feeling — I just believe that God will want the Bible available to everyone before people are tricked into taking the Mark of the Beast.
