I'm interested in the opinion of FReepers who have held security clearances in the government or military. As someone who's never had such I have a feeling this was improper. Is that an understatement?

And that alone should be enough to 1) Put her in jail, 2) Strip her security clearance forever, and 3) Disqualify here for the job of Commander in Chief. Seriously

Setting up the server isn’t breaking any laws and maintaining a server isn’t breaking any laws. There’s issues when the server becomes classified and then the IT folks continue to maintain the server if they don’t have a clearance but only if they are aware of classified information is on it.

In reality, working around the Secretary of State everyone should be cleared to a minimum of Secret. That should be part of the job description.

Bottom line here is CLINTON and the current US Government.. no one can break the law if they believe they’re above the law and we’re seeing this more and more in government. Laws don’t pertain to them.

How about massive felonies for both parties under the Espionage Act among other laws broken.

If we were still a nation under the rule of law. We're not.

She had secure info on an unsecure server, no one should get near it unless they had an appropriate clearance.

My understanding was that she never had any .gov accounts set up for SIPRNET or other secure platforms, anybody out there know anything about that?

I’m a former investigator for the DOD.

This is a MAJOR violation and would, at the very least, result in an investigation and the immediate suspension or revocation of the security clearance of the individual who allowed an uncleared person to have access to this information.

Additionally, any private company that stores DOD classified information must be cleared. That is, all the operating officers and any employee who has access to this information must pass a background investigation before being granted access.

None of this was done in the above matter.

I worked 30 years in a classified environment (S/TS/SCI). All of the sysadmins I dealt with had to have the appropriate clearances for any network with classified information they worked on. Some sysadmins didn’t have sufficient clearance for some systems, and they did not work on those. When we were short staff for sysadmins for a period of several years on a particular program, I was the backup sysadmin for those systems.

The computer geek without a proper clearance was just doing his job, but the person, or persons, who gave him access to Top Secret information broke the law. However, no reasonable (Democrat) prosecutor would bring charges against a fellow Democrat./Sarc.

He was managing CLASSIFIED information being transcribed on an ILLEGAL private, unsecure (hacked) server owned by the Secretary of State and operated out of her private residence- and HE didn't have a Security Clearance.

Improper? No, it's a MULTIPLE FELONY for Clinton and everyome involved!

BTW, did this guy EVER have a Security Clearance? After all, he was an aide to Bill Clinton as POTUS.

“Is that an understatement? “

One of the secrets on a program I worked was the project code name. Coming out of the secret area into the white world and walking towards me was the chief engineer. He was on his way to another black world area where we had hardware. He had picked up a stack of notebooks without noticing that the bottom one was the candy-striped red and white document with the code word and emblazoned “Top Secret.” There was nobody else in the hallway and I had a good view for a long way. I stopped him and briefly chatted, not wanting to scare the pants off him, I said, “Did you mean to have that out here without being in a sealed envelope?”

“What?”

“The secret document?”

He started jumping around like his feet were on fire. He was so panicked he had no idea what to do. He threw down his regular notebooks and tucked the red and white one under his arm like a football and this sixty year old man sprinted back to the air lock like he was being shot at. I would not be surprised if he wet himself.

Yes, people with clearances take their responsibility very seriously.

Nobody who had no right to know something would find out from anybody I worked with. We were under orders to challenge anybody in the classified area that we didn’t know. There was this awesome looking man with no badge walking around in there one day. He looked like he could have played a lineman on a professional football team. I stopped him and asked to see his badge. He said, “You have no right to stop me and pushed me aside.” I weighed about 130 at the time. I yelled at the top of my voice, “Uncleared personnel in the area.”

The program manger came sprinting out of his office and people popped up from their cubicles. With a huge grin the man pulled out a set of FBI credentials, plus the badge he was supposed to display in our area. He held them up and said, “I have been walking around in here for nearly 40 minutes. I have spoken to almost all of you and nobody, except this young man has challenged me. We are going to talk about this.”

Serious as a heart attack.

There was nothing ‘secure’ about Hillary’s clandestine ops server.. It was all about the money.

In the video clip, Cooper testified that emails sent to Hitlery’s Apple server bounced immediately to her Blackberry and were NOT retained on the server.

Sounds like intent to hide everything from the State Dept. and FOIA scrutiny.

““On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer and assert my Fifth Amendment privilege,” Combetta said. Combetta was reportedly granted immunity by the Department of Justice during its investigation of Clinton’s mishandling of classified emails while at State.”

OK- Immunity canceled. Bailiff-Lock him up. I thought that was how it worked.

Of course she didn't have a security clearance. If she had a clearance she would have known that what she was told to do was wrong, a potential felony, and wouldn't have done it. There is also the potential that she would have reported the potential breach in ways that could not have been contained.

FWIW - I have had a TS/SCI clearance since 1985. I have done work for DoD, FBI, and NSA.
