Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz commits $20M to help beat Trump

A co-founder of Facebook is donating $20 million of his fortune to Democratic coffers in a late and likely consequential move to help defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. The funds are a surprising infusion of cash from an individual who has never before been active in politics.

Dustin Moskovitz, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur with a net worth of more than $10 billion, announced early Friday that he and his wife would make a historically large donation to a half-dozen Democratic groups, including those backing Hillary Clinton. The donations, once issued, will make Moskovitz the third most generous donor in the 2016 campaign.

I don’t understand why conservatives use Facebook.

Yes, it is their right to dictate whatever communication rules they want, but why do we want to enlarge a liberal platform?

"You mean to say we are not being monitored here on FR? That our true identities are irretrievably hidden from snoops?"

Is that what he said?

Does the difference between someone on FR being doxxed versus doxxing oneself on FB really need to be explained?

My participation in Facebook has fallen pretty sharply as well. While I have a modest number of friends on Facebook, I do not post there any more, and only visit when I get e-mail notification that one of my friends has posted something of possible interest, to which I may or may not make a comment (usually something quite pithy).

And I have NEVER joined Twitter, as I do not even have a phone with texting capability. At my age, I do not want a phone smarter than I am. And who can handle those little bitty keyboards, anyway?

I’m with you, alloy. To text on my little keyboard I bought a small stylus that plugs into the headphone port. I don’t use it much but have it when I need it.
