Democratic senators, anxious over Hillary Clintons inability to pull away from Donald Trump, have some advice for their nominee: Be more open, show your soul, focus on the economy and talk about blue-collar jobs.
Recent polls show Trump within striking distance of Clinton, defying predictions in Washington that he is doomed in November.
Trumps ability to stay competitive while running an unconventional campaign has underscored what Democratic lawmakers see as the need for Clinton to improve in certain areas. These lawmakers, who served with Clinton in Congress and have known her for years, say her public persona is too guarded.
They struggle to reconcile the charismatic, warm and funny woman they know in private with Clintons public persona, which can come across as stern, aloof or annoyed.
Democratic senators say its natural for Clinton to put up her guard because she has been the target of Republican attacks for decades. But they think she might benefit from relaxing a little more on the campaign trail.
Her decades in this arena have taken their toll, said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). When youre hit a lot theres almost an unconscious shield that controls the answers to your questions. I think shes got to get rid of that and just let herself be.
Everybody that knows her, loves her. They know her heart is full, she added. Thats what she ought to do, just take the shield away from the heart.
Vice President Biden offered similar advice earlier in the week, calling on her to be more open.
Clinton has had the most difficulty connecting with white working-class voters. A nationwide CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday showed Trump beating Clinton among white voters without college degrees, 66 percent to 23 percent.
Many of these voters question her trustworthiness.

She’s a regular angel of mercy, that Hillary.
Bubba won 43% in 1992 and I voted for him.
Bubba was likable, funny and the kind of guy people could see themselves hanging out for a beer.
Here we are over a generation later and Hillary is the exact opposite of her husband. I don’t see her getting more votes than her husband did and she will get far less.
I wouldn’t invite Hillary to a cookout and she wouldn’t be welcome at a wake.
‘the charismatic, warm and funny woman they know in private’
What’s warmer, funnier and/or more charismatic than winging ashtrays and lamps at Bill Clinton, and giving him the occasional prize shiner?
Democratic senators say its natural for Clinton to put up her guard because she has been the target of Republican attacks for decades.
All together now. “Awww!”
Sure, she’s a sweetheart when she’s at fundraisers getting money from other rich people to spend on herself. I bet she is all warm and fuzzy when she’s juiced up with alcohol, not to mention the headiness that would come when people all want her to do a favor for them. What ego strokes she must get when she’s at social functions! As soon as she leaves the DC bubble, though, all those fake smiles and hugs are noticed by the commoners.
I don’t know about that. To me, Hillary has always been unlikeable and untrustworthy. She is even more so because of her decision making since becoming SOS.
ROFL. Weinstein, you are such a clown. If Shrillary has this warm lovable side she has been hiding it well for nearly 70 years! As for leading Democraps needing to counsel her in public on how to campaign, this is absolutely wonderful !!!!
I meant Feinstein, of course, darned auto correct!
They must be in desperation mode to feel the need to “go public” with this kind of advice.
Yeah! Have her open up and tell us about how she and Chelsea were under intense hostile gun fire in Bosnia.:
Below is the video taken by Brian Williams showing Illiarily under intense fire in Bosnia:

That's the ticket! She'll nail the R'lyeh vote for sure!
I hope she listens. the more she shows herself the more evil and unlikeable she gets. she is a criminal and a total globalist fraud who only cares about the elites and her donors:
She’s back to a tie in today’s LAT poll.
No wonder Democrats are urging her to do more.
Too little, too late.
Yes, by all means, Hillary, show us your soul, your black hear and black soul, and let your inner demon out as well for all to see.
Hey, Dems, we have seen the real Hillary for 30 years and no sale.
That she is tied in the polls with a first time candidate 60 days out, tells you that she will be defeated in November.
We saw the real Hillary on Wednesday night lying to a former Naval officer, and on the tarmac on Thursday morning with her shrill insults and her faux meeting with the former military syncophants. Plans for meetings but no strategy. Same old, same old. Appear to do something, but accomplish nothing.
The American people are waking up to what is really at stake, at long, long last.
Hillary is a lot like Obama Care. The more you know about her, the less you like her. She wants to be elected president before she exposes herself and her true nature.
I didn’t read the comment that way. Rather, it sounded like the poster was pointing out that Hillary already got this advice once, and it did no good. Now the worried Dems are cycling back through their already-failed playbook, desperately hoping that doing the same thing all over again, while hoping for different results, doesn’t mean insanity in their case.
Objections to Trump are mainly on "temperament." Trump can win undecideds by "acting better."
Objections to Hillary are based on her character. She can't change what she is or what she has done. There is not much Hillary can do to win undecideds.
That’s the genius of the Trump strategy. He keeps smoking her out of her hole.
Hillary is a bad candidate.
They nominated her because they had no one else available with her name recognition who was electable and they’re stuck with her.
Changing horses this late in the game only reveals the Democratic Party has no bench.
It was all wiped out between 2010-2014.
