It’s time to kill the ObamaCare penalty (Hope Trump Makes this Pledge)

On Inauguration Day, the next president of the United States should suspend the penalty for being uninsured under ObamaCare.

President Obama promised his law would provide an array of affordable health plans. In 2017, consumers will get neither choice nor affordability. In nearly a third of the nation, only one insurer will offer coverage — that’s no choice at all. And insurance premiums are skyrocketing across the country.

ObamaCare is broken. Slapping ObamaCare refuseniks with hefty penalties (averaging almost $1,000) for not signing up would be unfair, like enforcing a parking ticket when the meter’s broken.

As a matter of fact, I do. I work for a regional health insurance carrier that is in the process of getting bought out by one of the big guys.

Being self employed I write a check to the IRS every year. I have VA coverage but the wife has none. I deducted the penalty amount from what was owed this year and mailed my check.

I get letters showing the “Shared Responsibility” amount still owed (with interest of course) and file them properly. The last notice even offered to set up a payment plan. I could pay it but refuse to comply...piss on ‘em.

The next president should give every business and every citizen a lifetime Obamacare waiver. The Congress should then repeal that terrible and unconstitutional law and not replace it with anything but freedom.

I dunno, but I already face the prospect of being hit with the “Cadillac Tax” once that cuts in in 2018. Supposedly there is something like a 40% penalty tax if your premiums go over $27K

If you are buying your own insurance you aren't going to pay the Cadillac Tax. It is for companies that give their employees practically free health coverage. Union shops are going to have a hissy fit if it goes into effect.

I’ve been telling my husband, that if Trump would make that promise, he would get A LOT of support just for that. Then, he needs to say that he’ll work to get previous years paid fines REFUNDED.

I have and I’m sure there are many like me. I get insurance through work, but my husband is unemployed, so we are penalized for his lack of insurance. Just on principle (never mind that it’s unaffordable and useless), I won’t go to the odumbocare website or participate.
