Black voters sue over Alabama's method of electing judges
Washington Post ^ | September 7, 2016 | Kim Chandler

A civil rights group challenged Alabama's practice of electing appellate judges by statewide vote on Wednesday, saying the result is all-white courts in a state where one in four people is African-American.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of NAACP's Alabama chapter and four black voters in Montgomery federal court argues that at-large judicial elections in Alabama violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act by diluting the voting power of African-American citizens.

"In 2016, Alabama's appellate courts are no more diverse than they were when the Voting Rights Act was signed more than 50 years ago," said Kristen Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which filed the suit. "This case makes clear that voting discrimination is alive and well across the state of Alabama."

All elections should be done like NAACP elections for their officers.

Paper ballots.

They require voter IDs to be shown to vote.

Federal courts. Always.

Because states don’t exist in the leftist mind anymore.

An absolutely lying, racist statement.

This is where Affirmative Action leads us. To such stupidities as “Majority minority” congressional districts.

The whole premise of this article is that black people should have special privileges because of their skin color.

It will be deemed as “racist” if a Black defendant is tried in a court presided by a White judge.
Likewise the prosecutor and jury.
There is no end to potential demands that can be made.
The blindfold over the eyes of the Statue of Justice will have to be removed soon.
This does not bode well for any “justice system”

What you said: if Hillary is elected, count on this being changed to include some quota system to guarantee representation that satisfies all minorities.

If Hillary is elected, she’s going to create a Supreme Court in her image that lasts the rest of our lifetimes.

That court, and the lower courts, are going to carve a path of destruction through the Bill of Rights that makes Sherman’s March to the Sea look like a children’s parade.

Want a preview of the results? Check out where the Left already rules by fiat - U.S. college campuses. Gun-free, thought-crime zones, where all outcomes are apportioned by race. That’s the USA of the future after a Clinton victory.

yes indeed the D party machine wants to make USA even MORE racist than they’ve already achieved “for us”

its an ironic, and tragic thing that so many black Americans still vote for the most racist political party in USA

Alabama is about 73 percent white and 26 percent black (only 1 percent are others).

Maybe you could get some black candidates who weren’t race mongers they’d have a better chance. I don’t watch practically any local TV or even listen to much radio. I voted for some state-wide judges and to be honest, I don’t know what any of them look like except I do read their statements. If it sounds socialist or anti-constitution, they don’t get my vote. So I am not voting for or against anyone’s looks or color, but their ideas and principles.

I guess that makes me racist.

What these people are saying is that judges aren’t there to ensure fair treatment under the law, but to provide special treatment for blacks regardless of what the facts in the case may be.

“This is where Affirmative Action leads us.”

Affirmative Action was an admission by the Marxists that POC aren’t capable of making it without help.
