Taking Ted Cruz Seriously - What does 'vote your conscience' mean for conservatives?
Lifezette ^ | September 7, 2016 | Laura Ingraham

That’s the world you will wake up to on Nov. 9 … a world where your constitutional rights, your state and local governments, and your country’s military would all be in the hands of a single angry liberal.

At this year’s GOP convention, Ted Cruz famously urged the delegates — and all Republicans: “If you love our country, and love our children as much as you do, stand, and speak, and vote your conscience. Vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom, and to be faithful to the constitution.” Many observers saw this statement as an implied attack on Donald Trump, and Cruz was booed vigorously as a result. But let’s take Sen. Cruz seriously. In the 2016 election, what should a conservative do who loves his or her children and his or her country? What does your conscience suggest?

Some have sought to avoid the issue by saying that one vote doesn’t matter in an election as large as ours. Even if that were true, it shouldn’t matter to a person of good conscience. Your vote is important not only because of its practical outcome, but because it is how you, as a free citizen, participate in the life if your country. Simply abdicating your responsibility, and passing the buck to your fellow Americans, is not the act of a good conscience.

Others seek to avoid the issue by saying that Hillary Clinton will win no matter what anyone says or does. But that’s plainly not true. According to Nate Silver’s “polls-plus” analysis, Donald Trump has a 30.9 percent chance of winning the election. As of today, Silver projects Trump to win almost 237 electoral votes — far more than Mitt Romney (who won 206). Furthermore,

Cruz is going to loose the Primary in 2018
Greater men than him made much smaller mistakes which ended their political future.

I am voting my conscience, TRUMP.

Cruz supporter don’t get to define what “vote your conscience” means for anyone but themselves.

It was a good article.

She stated the case that no one should sit this one out, but should vote for Trump.

Cruz will never run again for POTUS. He cooked his own goose.

It was really thrilling to see Cruz defeat entrenched RINO David Dewhurst for the Senate in 2012. I saw Cruz as the new voice of conservatism in the GOP. I now see him as just another narcissist with delusions of grandeur.

Ted Cruz is now dead to me.

We took it as a slap because the never trumpets were hash tagging the phrase all over the place.

Cruz knew that. He hates Trump. He will do anything to see him lose

There won’t be elections or a republic left if Trump doesn’t win

Ted has proven himself to be a petulant child

Simple. Voting your conscience for conservatives means voting for Mr. Trump. No real conservative with a conscience could possibly vote for The Beast.

Next?

I don’t even know if that is his father in the picture with Lee Harvey Oswald.

But he is defintely not a natural born citizen.

Well, of course. But that’s not really what the article is about. Not Ted, per se.

I think Cruz said what he said, because he uses lawyer double talk.

He intends to signal his supporters to NOT vote for Trump, and to be ready for his run, next time around.

In terms of morality, Cruz subjects the nation to the evil of Hillary, for the sake of his future. If Trump wins, Cruz loses his near time chance.

He is holding himself, to be more important, than the nation’s well being.

He is the personification of many of the long-winded, pious #nevertrumpers.

“Telling you to vote for Trump without explicitly endorsing him ... That’s the way I see it.”

What I heard was, “Write in my name.”

An unqualified and sincere endorsement of Trump was the only option. Ted failed.

That and he's not NBC.

If Cruz had been the nominee, he would likely be in court most of the time trying to stay on ballots after Democrats succeeded in getting him disqualified in many states.

I have asked my conscience what I should do for the last 50 years, it keeps telling me the same thing; “KILL ALL THE LAWYERS, KILL ALL THE POLITICIANS”, should I do it?
Admittedly it would solve a lot of problems.
