Storm Hermine's damage fueled by global warming, scientists say

Storm surges pushed by Hermine, the once and future hurricane that on Sunday was moving up the US eastern seaboard, could be even more damaging because sea levels have risen by a foot due to global warming, climate scientists say.

Michael Mann of the Pennsylvania State University noted that this century’s one-foot sea-level rise in New York City meant 25 more square miles flooded during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, causing billions more in damage.

“We are already experiencing more and more flooding due to climate change in every storm,” said Michael Oppenheimer, a geosciences professor at Princeton University. “And it’s only the beginning.”

On Sunday morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the storm was expected to stall off the coast of New Jersey and other major population centers in the north-east for several days.

Wow, the real surprising aspect is that it took the warmunists this long to blame it on Man-Made Global WarmingTM

Only one Hurricane (and a WEAK Category 1 version, to boot) hits the U.S. Mainland briefly this year and then moves out to sea, so they have to play the sea level angle to maximize their use of the event.

What a bunch of liars. The reason why there is more damage with these events is from people building closer to the coast

“sea levels have risen by a foot due to global warming, climate scientists say”

if that were actually the case, most of the beaches on the eastern seaboard would have been wiped off the face of the map, so I can only assume sea levels must have risen in OTHER places by a foot but not along the U.S. coast, thus defying the laws of gravity.

Funny - There have been no articles I remember documenting such a large rise in sea levels, yet these “scientists” proclaim it as truth.

YUGE uptick in hurricanes since the last land fall 11 years ago. Right? And we still have a couple of months left in hurricane season. Better head for higher ground.

Ike tore up my roof and I had to replace it. I'm pretty sure that was less than 10 years ago.

I have lived in and around the New York coastline for my whole life. We go back generations, as do my friends. The beach on which I grew up has the identical waterline as it did decades ago. The pre revolutionary war houses still sit there, behind their sea walls

I can’t read this propaganda

"When Hermine makes landfall, it would be the first hurricane to do so in the state since Wilma in 2005."

I guess that this proves that there was no global warming in the prior 10 years.
