Desperate Media Declare Trump Mexico Summit a Failure in Advance

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had not even left yet for his visit to Mexico on Wednesday morning when the mainstream media began declaring it a failure.

Politico’s Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman, for example, wrote in their morning “Playbook” email:

TRUMP TO MEXICO — We know that the Mexican government is not interested in paying for Donald Trump’s wall.

The New York Times also did its best, reporting Trump’s impending visit under the headline: “Donald Trump to Visit Mexico After More Than a Year of Mocking It.” The Times added that the visit was the “latest gamble for Mr. Trump and his struggling campaign.”

Trump shocked the political world by announcing the visit on Tuesday night — less than 24 hours ahead of his immigration speech in Arizona.

Though the visit has political risks — President Nieto could try to embarrass him, and Trump could make rhetorical mistakes — the fact that it is happening at all is unquestionably a coup for the Republican nominee. It undercuts Hillary Clinton’s attempt to portray Trump as a toxic racist, and also shows Trump looking the part of a president.

The media clearly understand that, and are determined to undermine Trump as they did Mitt Romney in 2012.

They are already trying to do the same with Trump, and are clearly eager to reassure the public that Hillary Clinton, too, will have her turn to meet the Mexican president.

There is only one problem: she has already been to Mexico, and embarrassed herself. In 2009, for example, as the newly-installed Secretary of State, she used a visit to blame American guns for violence in Mexico, setting up Operation Fast and Furious, which ended in the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

Notice the media now asking why has Clinton not gone, why did she not go to the floods, why is she hiding, and what is her policy on such issues.

Yep she get a pass again while this media is in a twist over trump, infact it is all Trump.

We don't need to know what his angle is. All will be revealed by this evening. Trump knows what he is doing. You don't amass an empire without knowing what the deal is.

The Mexican government KNOWS that an American President can make them pay for just about anything. There are so many ways to cut finances, aid, loans, World Bank, favored trading partner status.

They also can see the polls, and probably have their own political experts who are showing that Trump might just win.

So they are cutting their bets, making nice, and trying to save the next four years.

Trump could rescue a baby and a basket of puppies from a burning building and the press will bash him for it. In fact, they probably already have the template written to blame him for the fire in the first place.

The US media are not journalists. They are media/entertainment figures. They do not do “journalism” any longer.

Just look at all the major political stories of today - Clinton’s e-mails, Benghazi timeline, Soros influence, Clinton foundation, Government surveillance, etc.., etc..

US Mainstream media has not broken one, or any small part of, these stories. In fact, they do the opposite on them, spin and obfuscate. It has all been done by anonymous hackers, wikileaks, Snowden, groups like judicial watch or just plain independent internet research.

The US Journalism is dead. Most Americans just don’t realize it yet.

Yes, free press and there is a variety of topics that could be discussed. Trade, drugs, immigration, national security. Positive fallout illustrating Trump is pro-active, working in building a relationship with a foreign government, embarrassing the press and snowflake FReepers, and other intangibles.

Trump advocates should understand Trump is not just another empty-suit politician with a plastic smile like Romney or a nut case like McCain.

Mexican prez has been struggling with a lot of scandals. I hope thisTrump invitation is not a set-up to make him look like better by embarrassing Trump. I can imagine the Clintons encouraging this behind the scenes in a way that will make Trump look bad.

I think the Democrat run media is flailing right now. Trump is not acting like a bought and paid for politician and its making them say and do stupid things. Our press has become like the propaganda organs of the old USSR. And Americans need to be attuned to that, just as the citizens of the USSR were. They knew Pravda really did publish the truth, but it was coded and inferred “between the lines.” An astute Soviet never took Pravda at face value, but instead sifted and gleaned the information to divine what was really going on.

It’s a skill that the American body politic needs to develop.
