MIAMI Senator Marco Rubio of Florida was nominated for a second term by Republican voters on Tuesday, five months after suspending his presidential campaign. He will face Representative Patrick Murphy, a two-term House Democrat, in one of the crucial races for control of the Senate.
The primary results appeared to point to a preference among voters in Florida, a pivotal swing state, to eschew more extreme candidates on the right and the left in favor of establishment lawmakers favored by national party leaders.
In another important primary race, Senator John McCain of Arizona, a Republican seeking a sixth term, faces a challenge from his right from Dr. Kelli Ward, a family doctor and a former state senator. The winner will probably face a tough race against Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, who has made it a point of her campaign to court Latinos and American Indians in an increasingly diverse state.
In Florida, Mr. Rubio, who was asked by Republican leaders to jump into the Senate race after saying initially that he would not seek re-election, defeated Carlos Beruff, a wealthy Gulf Coast homebuilder. Mr. Beruff, who is Cuban-American and spent $8 million of his own money on his Senate bid, is an enthusiastic supporter of Donald J. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee. Mr. Rubios Democratic opponent, Mr. Murphy, bested Representative Alan Grayson, a liberal provocateur who was favored by many progressives but faced ethics investigations in the House and accusations that he had abused his former wife.

I voted in Brevard County, Fl. I’m register npa (no party affiliation). I hate Republicans. I, also, hate Democrats. But mostly, I hate lawyers. Lawyers should not be allowed to hold public office. So, on my ballet, I did not get to choose Rubio, or vote in the Grayson mess. But I notice Rubio has won and Grayson has lost. All my family members are npa. I was registered Republican but changed to npa because I got tired of all the phone calls asking me to give $5000 or so. I don’t give money to any candidate. The fools should use their own money to finance their campaign.
I went at 5. Damn. Just damn
Excellent news! :)
“Debbie Wasserman Schultz seems safe.”
@#$%^&*!
But, FWIW, DWS is Wisconsin’s Gwen Moore, so, My Condolences!
Florida love Rubio. I voted for him today as did everyone I know.
Marco will help Trump carry the latino vote in Florida!
But we would lose so many great caricatures here on FR if DWS lost... ;^)
“Marco will help Trump carry the Latino vote in Florida!”
Make it so! He doesn’t seem to be half the Loserman Cruz has shown himself to be! :)
I will personally post pictures of my trials with MY out-of-control hair if it means that she loses! :)
‘m here in Florida watching the local returns at the bottom of the screen. Rubio got about 900,000 votes alone. That speaks to another huge primary turnout for republicans. Grayson getting his butt kicked. The rat turnout for the senate primary about half million votes less than Rubio.
I won’t be voting for Rubio in the general.
I’ve no need for known liars.
I’ve only ever voted Dem one time in my life, and that was many years ago in Pa, when the Dem was more conservative than the Pub. Was his name Flaherty? It’s been so many years, I forget!
Come November, I will vote for ABR, anyone but Rubio, Dem, Lib, Independent, anyone but that globalist boy toy.
Not only the Latino vote; women who don’t like Trump like Rubio. He can help Trump in the general, and not just in Florida, by being reconciled. I think this is a ministry for Dr. Ben Carson. Next up, hopefully, Gov. Kasich.
Yes, Rubio will work with President Trump.
I’m glad that psycho Grayson lost. The boy ain’t right in the head.
I’m here in Fl. as well and am thrilled that Grayson got his butt kicked!
Now that little Pr$7k Patrick Murphy needs to be sent packing.
Voted beruff. now, don’t like rubio. but I’m not a moron so i will vote for him since i prefer not to give the senate back to the democrats. Unless there is some other way : )
After reviewing the vote totals so far, Rubio and other GOP candidates for the Senate seat are receiving over 250,000 more votes than the Dem candidates. Good sign for November
++++
We are all anxious for signs of that Secret Trump Vote (STV) that the pollsters are missing.
If the STV really exists would it be expected to show up in the primaries? Would we expect to see a higher margin of victory for Rubio that the pollsters predicted? Would that 250,000 margin give us a hint?
Just wondering.
The problem with Marco is his size.
What stands out to me is that overall there were 300,000 more Republican voters than democrats.
