UK must pay for Brexit or EU is in 'deep trouble', says German minister

Economy minister Sigmar Gabriel warns UK must take responsibility for vote that has left Europe as an ‘unstable continent’ __ German economy minister Sigmar Gabriel has said that Britain must not be allowed to “keep the nice things” that come with EU membership without taking responsibility for the fallout from Brexit.

As Theresa May called a cabinet meeting to discuss the UK government’s Brexit strategy on Wednesday, Gabriel warned if the issue was badly handled and other member countries followed Britain’s lead, Europe would go “down the drain”.

“Brexit is bad but it won’t hurt us as much economically as some fear – it’s more of a psychological problem and it’s a huge problem politically,” he told a news conference.

The world now regarded Europe as an unstable continent, said Gabriel, who is the deputy to chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany’s governing coalition.

“If we organise Brexit in the wrong way, then we’ll be in deep trouble, so now we need to make sure that we don’t allow Britain to keep the nice things, so to speak, related to Europe while taking no responsibility,” Gabriel said.

that we don’t allow Britain to keep the nice things, so to speak, related to Europe”

that comes down to negotiation and power doesn’t it?

And now Britain has apparently, and miraculously, remembered that it is a country...not an outlying vassal state of the Empire.

So these are questions to be asked and answers will come through negotiation, mutually beneficial answers, and when that falls short...then...competition/strife and sometimes a little military conflict will ensue.

It’s all in the history books.

Great news!

The EU wants Ireland to collect $ 15 Billion in EU Tax from Apple. I hope that Ireland and Apple DO NOT COMPLY!

The end of the EU, Juncker and Soros is in sight.

STARVE the EU and Soros!

Is it just me or do the Germans think they’re in charge all the time?

I’m nearly 58 years old.

It is only in the last few years that I’ve found out how nasty leftists quite often are deep down.

Hillary’s proposed punishments killed her health plan proposals. Massive punishments unfortunately have a home in the Clinton era HIPAA.

Hillary’s nasty tone about people who might refuse to buy health coverage cost her the 2008 primary.

Now EU bullies are threatening Brits who simply want to run their own country themselves.

War or civil war in Europe within 10 years. I used to think maybe, now it seems a certainty.

The Greeks didn’t waste time asking for WWII reparations.

Germany still bullying everyone.

Eastern Europe is now the GOOD guy but lousy things will be forced down their throat from the west and they wont take it.

I just dont know their number or strength to repel muslims or others in a war.

If the top dogs of the EU didn’t act like power-crazed Nazis, they wouldn’t have an “unstable continent”.

The continued EU nastiness surely is making many Continentals very nervous.

Except for the French, who are getting to borrow at very low interest rates, most Continentals will bolt unless the EU acts gracefully with respect to Britain.

EU wants some alimoni with that divorce... Ef em.. if any thing , it should be the other way around... Let us remember that Germany charged far more the French under Vichy than it was charged by the League of Nations... the same theft mentality continues obviously, under “social” needs

Now they are trying to force Ireland to collect more taxes from Apple. Yep, they never connect and learn, or do they? This is like a casus belly.

I’ve thought along the same lines, watching muslim migration into Europe only to be entered onto the dole upon arrival — no invading army had foraging so easy. Did the Russians say to Napoleon’s army, “Here, let me pick those beets for you?”.

If Germany still wants to play (and it's not at all clear that they do), then an entente with Russia makes a lot of sense.

Not as much as Bavarian secession (Bay-exit) and merger with Austria does, but all in all not bad.

Germany has sucked ever since Kohl

If by that you mean that Kohl is responsible for what he precipitated (Merkel the Mad just being one fallout product) you are fully correct.
