Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes hit the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton in Ohio on Friday, the second battleground state shes visited in recent weeks.
...
Grimes has also been a Clinton campaign surrogate in Iowa, speaking on behalf of the Democratic presidential nominee at the states annual Wing Ding dinner on Aug. 12.
Clinton holds a wider polling margin in Ohio, where she leads Trump by nearly 5 points in a head-to-head with GOP nominee Donald Trump and by 4 percent in a four-way with Libertarian and Green Party candidates included, according to Real Clear Politics average of recent polling. In recent Iowa polling, Clinton is ahead of Trump by 1.5 percent head-to-head and by a scant 0.2 percent in a four-way.
Pure Politics has learned that Grimes will be traveling to Florida, where Clinton leads Trump by 3.3 points in recent polling, to stump for Clinton in October.
Being a campaign surrogate can lead to other opportunities if the candidate wins office. When Pure Politics caught up with Grimes at Thursdays Kentucky Farm Bureau Ham Breakfast at the state fair and asked her about the possibility of joining Clintons administration should she win Nov. 8, she said she just hoped to see Clinton in the White House.
Were hopeful that we can make sure that folks realize the importance of this vote, Grimes said. This is a vote that I think will not only make history by helping to get the first female in the White House, but the most qualified candidate, the person that has the steady hand to grow our economy, who has the values that Kentuckians share, especially fighting for children and families.
