What infuriated me was when the TSA did a beat down of a mentally impaired young woman; images shows her with blood on her face after they slammed her to the floor. Then there was this five year old kid in a wheelchair but don’t get me going on that one.

Traveled to Houston for this past Christmas and just got back from vacation in Scotland.

In Houston, I had a jar of limoncello curd (that would be pudding, not a liquid). They confiscated it - AFTER making sure I told them the recipe I was going to use it for.

In Scotland, I had some small bottles of scotch packed in my carry on. The security screener in Scotland let me work it out with someone who was traveling with me so I didn’t violate the rules about maximum amount of liquid. If it had been in the US, the TSA would have confiscated all my scotch and sent me on my way. Buncha of thieves.

The TSA is horrifying.

I have no plans to fly, ever, because of the TSA BS.

I had this happen to me a few years ago. It was an early morning flight and I forgot to take my computer out. So, they subjected my bag to multiple swabs but the putz apparently didn't know how to make the machine work; he used so many swabs there was liquid pooled in the bottom of the bag.

All that saved me is his colleagues were gathering to take a break, so he left my stuff in a pile and rushed off to follow them so he wouldn't miss his break. Real einsteins work there.

We’ve gone ahead & paid for the TSA pre-check to cut down on nonsense, but they still make it a nightmare. Coming in through Customs is another one that needs to be looked at!

I had the same problem, flying from Hawaii, a few years ago. They wanted to do a “wipe test” on my laptop. I said sure, but I want to see the calibration sheet for the spectrometer. She gave me a very puzzled look. The gal called her supervisor and I told him the same thing. He told me to have a safe flight.

She brought it on herself when she took the open bottle of liquid through.

I was pulled aside because of a cream prescription drug. In my case the drug did not set off any alarms but I was still subject to a pat down, having the entire contents of my bag reviewed, and a 20 minute wait for the explosives expert to review my prescription. I explained that the drug was in my carry on as the medicine was temperature sensitive. As a side note, I packed it in my checked in baggage for the return flight. Boy what a mess when I opened it. Unhappy about my experience but glad I had my prescription for the two weeks I was in an area where getting a refill was impossible.

I flew out of Reagan a few months ago.

I’m in a wheelchair, and they were obsessed with my wheelchair.

When flying up to DC the TSA agents seemed to think I was the threat. I can walk , just not well (MS), but they wanted me to go stand in the scan machine...so I did. They said I needed to put my hands above my head, and I couldn’t get them higher than my shoulders, but that was okay. The wheelchair didn’t draw any special attention.

Coming back from Reagan, the wheelchair was the deal, but I never had to get out of it...they just swabbed the entire chair, and it took a long time, they wanded me.

Since 2001, something called the Screening Partnership Program has existed that allows for U.S. airports to contract with private screeners as opposed to using those assigned by the TSA.

Any TSA person who loses their job because of this would soon be working for the private company with the same rules.

I've flown about once a year for the last 10-12. Hardly ever had a problem.

Once, flying from the Dominican Republic (DR) through Puerto Rico. I went through security in the DR just fine. Had to go through customs in Puerto Rico, then through security again, where they confiscated my craft scissors - folding scissors with a blade of maybe 3/4". Then I get to my gate, and see a woman walking by with the same sort of scissors on a lanyard - meaning she'd obviously gone through security without getting her craft scissors confiscated!

My most recent trip from the DR, TSA in NYC took the can of Off that I'd forgotten was in my backback. the irony there was, I had purchased that can at a shop in that very airport on my way down to the DR!

Neither was a huge loss, but seemed a bit petty.

Have flown twice this year; TSA has been a breeze on all flights. Went through in about 3 minutes each time; and one of the airports was a large one; SFO.
I am pre-checked; I don’t remember ever signing up for that; but I am.
