We are “herd” animals which even Aristotle knew. Eddy Bernays (Freud’s Nephew) who wrote Propaganda put psychological control over people into newspapers and adds to literally control our “thinking” since 1910. We have had agitprop since JP Morgan bought all the APs and own most of Hollywood to control what we “think” is true. We erased God (banned God) and now only allow propaganda in schools and TV-—which only controls emotions (and how we vote and “think”). We erased Reason and now only use Emotions and Rhetoric to control our “truth” since wisdom and true education (Classical Curricula) has been eliminated.
We LOVE to feel like we are part of the GROUP. WE HATE REJECTION.
They use this principle in kindergarten to destroy Free Will and Individualism in our children-—to brainwash them into group think. They will be unable to think coherently since emotions will determine what they “know”.
People who are not embedded with Virtue (the ability to think for themselves (Classical Education), will be able to go against the mob think, because they are filled with Wisdom (Truth/God) from experience and readng the Great Books which is habituated, so they can not easily be controlled and “persuaded” by lies and misinformation.
“Trust” maybe for a moment—but not until they always verify with original sources. When you have embedded Truth from early childhood (male/female paradigm where individualism and Free Will and understanding of self and natural instincts only occur)-—you will be able to detect fraud to an extent. (It is called having Common Sense).
The Wisdom and Classical Education (tools for thinking critically) have been removed from children INTENTIONALLY-—so people like above can influence the herd “think”.....and make them literally jump off of the cliff.
People who can not “think” and are easily persuaded by anyone into irrational philosophy like socialism/ Herd think-—mob philosophy is always EMOTIONAL ONLY—It is ALL emotional manipulation.

After perusing the comments, websites, etc... My take away is that basically Cialdini is right, but there is one premise that escapes many readers, and perhaps practitioners of the Cialdini concepts.
What would that be?
Simply put - truth. If there is no truth then the responses just won’t be the same. It might work for a while but after lots of smoke, mirrors, fire (that does exist BTW), the untruthfulness breaks down the concepts.
The Republicans hire Political Scientists who can tell you how many Democrats there are on a block.
The Democrats hire Psychologists who tell them how to get more votes.
How about this for Mass Psychological Manipulation: A strong truthful successful leader who respects his supporters and advocates common sense policies?

To answer the question: It does not make a trump voter a hillary voter, but rather attack trump, attacks trump voters, attacks trump persuaders, and boosts hillary excuses and promoters to existing hillary voters.

Yes, in an interview with the WSJ’s Taranto he identified the person that he’s been referring to in his blog as “Godzilla” (as in the Godzilla of persuaders.)
Interestingly, Adams’ most recent blog post argues that HIllary’s ad with the KKK in it effectively accuses ALL Trump supporters, i.e., nearly half the voters, of being racist. He thinks that to be a huge mistake.
His blog is well worth reading as Adams is an expert on persuading as well.

Given the definition of IQ, there’s an excellent chance that you’re very close, just as you would be if you had written “Fifty percent of all democrats have IQs over 100.”
Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
Target: Trump & supporters
Freeze it: Brand the target, give it a name (”alt right”)
Personalize it: racists, extremists, “dark ideology”, etc.
Polarize it: denigrate

That psychologist ought to know that shaming already angry people who KNOW they aren’t being heard does not result in capitulation to the bully.
