RUSH: Let's listen to a little bit of Trump. This was in Austin last night and we've got some bites from what many are saying was another great Trump appearance. Here we go.
TRUMP: Tonight's message is about redeclaring our independence as a country. On November 8th, a very, very important date, we are going to declare our independence from special interests, corrupt politicians, and I might add, very corrupt politicians, and from a rigged system that benefits only the insiders. We are going declare our independence from politicians who don't listen to us and media executives, they don't care about us, and, by the way, who never report our massive and very, very friendly crowds. That's for sure.
RUSH: The crowd went nuts there. Trump's back at it. He's in Tampa with another appearance at this moment. Last night in Austin, Trump refined his outreach to African-Americans.
TRUMP: The percentage of black Americans in poverty has grown under Obama, the Census Bureau reports, from 25.8% in 2009 to 26.2%, up too much, too much. The number of blacks on food stamps soared under Obama to 11.7 million people in 2014, up 58.2%. (crowd boos) Also, from Obama's arrival through last June 30th, the percentage of black Americans who own homes plunged 41.7%. Nearly four in 10 African-American children live in poverty. That's no good and not fair.
Trump Appeals Directly to African-American Voters
RUSH: And he kept on, folks. He's not deterred. He continued on this same line.
TRUMP: Fifty-eight percent of young African-Americans are not employed. Homicide is up nearly 50% in Washington, DC, and up more than 60% in Baltimore and up throughout all of our inner cities. Violent crime rose 17% in the 50 largest US cities. This is the legacy of President Obama and Hillary Clinton. It can't get any worse. To those suffering I say, "What do you have to lose in trying Trump? What do you have to lose?" I will fix it. I will fix it.
RUSH: Okay. There you go. Now, here's a Trump audience going nuts over the prospect of improving the lives of African-Americans. They're applauding it. They're all for it. We conservatives are all for everybody doing better. We want great things for everybody. We want everybody accessing every opportunity that they can. We've been the greatest country on earth, it's got incredible bounty, we want everybody experiencing it.
Now, in the last couple of days I have been commenting on this, and I found that many conservatives disagree with me. I have been, for the most part, thinking Trump, this is a good outreach, and most people are saying, "No, no, Rush, this is not the way to do it. This is demeaning, this is humiliating. This is Trump telling African-Americans how rotten their lives are. Even if he is trying to blame it on Democrats, this is not the way to do it. It shouldn't happen."
And I think to myself, if I were trying to outreach to African-Americans as a candidate I'd do something similar. You know, I'd ask 'em, "You've been voting Democrat your whole lives and then some, and what's it gotten you?" (interruption) Well, I know, that's the thing. But I found this actually addressed last night as I was digging deep into show prep for today. Somebody actually went to a group of African-Americans and asked them how they are reacting to Trump.
Now, remember, many conservatives think that Trump's not really reaching out to African-Americans here with this. That what he's really trying to do is show white college educated people, and in particular women, that he's not racist, that he's not bigoted, that he likes everybody. In other words, his target is not African-Americans with this, but it's with white people that doubt him. That's the theory.
So I ran across this, I don't remember specifically what it was, and I was in the middle of something, I was on an iPad, I couldn't print it at the time, but I remember it. It was a story interviewing several African-Americans, and they were asked to respond to Trump's pitch. And it was exactly, it was exactly what my wild guess assumed it would be.
They don't care what Trump's saying because they don't really think he cares, because he's a Republican. And they admitted, the people in this story, the African-Americans in the story admitted, "Yeah, but at least the Democrats care." It didn't matter to them that Democrat Party policies, not only have not worked, they probably have made things worse, it didn't matter, the results, the actual reality, life on the ground, didn't matter.
The reason that they are not gonna abandon Democrats is because in their minds the Democrats care more. The Democrats care for real. And they think Trump is just saying this stuff. Now, that is the result of 50 years of branding or more. So simply reaching out, apparently, and expressing your desires and your hopes for African-Americans as a Republican is not nearly enough. I don't know what is, but apparently that's not the way to do it.

At least half of Trump’s appeal is that he is hated by the GOPe. Will he deliver? I can’t say. But I do know that Hillary will be four more years of the SOS, same old $#*+.
<... African-Americans in the story admitted, “Yeah, but at least the Democrats care.”...>
I would have to ask, “How have they shown you they care?”
...They don’t care what Trump’s saying because they don’t really think he cares, because he’s a Republican. And they admitted, the people in this story, the African-Americans in the story admitted, “Yeah, but at least the Democrats care.”
The party that controlled the blacks, prepetuated slavery, the Slave trade, and Jim Crow till the latter part of the 20th Century. The party being the KKK. The party responsible for the plight of the blacks today.
The party that filibustered against the Civil Rights Act. The party whose filibuster against it was stopped by Republicans.
The only things Democrats care about are the black vote and keeping them going as a victim class.
This makes no sense whatsoever.
In FL Trump is pulling 20% of blacks. Romney did 6%. Multiply that nation-wide. The election is over folks.
anyone who thinks trump is wavering on illegal immigration better listen to his MS speech
They can't.
And then, it becomes clear: Trump may be right. Maybe there isn't anything to lose by voting for him. Hillary! is promising to continue the slide, to continue the loss of economic success for blacks. So why vote that way?
trumps not trying to get 90 percent..all he needs is 20-25.. Rush believes the media story too..come on a Rush your better than that
I guarantee you there are 20-25 percent who want to say fu to democrats
I would have to ask, How have they shown you they care?
We need to get the story out that they don't care.
Vulgar and offensive Democrat Presidential candidate language at the link:
That (their) comment in and of itself, displays a grasp “gap” that is very wide and deep.
The Democrats put in place policies that destroy investment and jobs. All these have to do it look at unemployment under Obama. Blame it on Bush all you like, but your boy did nothing to fix things. He had eight years.
That’s a full blown admission by example, that they haven’t a clue how to create jobs.
Why have a Democrat for eight years if all they are going to do is shift blame, then make excuses?
You added in a lot, and it’s all a well reasoned rational presentation.
I stated this in answer to another FReeper.

That has been my take for weeks.
This just adds more fuel to that fire IMO.
I agree with you.
In 2001, not long after Bush took office, FOX had a video of Clinton speaking at a black church in New York...Behind him was Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and several other black men and women...The elderly preacher of the church was standing to the side...
Bill Clinton was telling the congregation what THEY needed to do to make Bush do this and do that for them...
The elderly preacher walked to Clinton and said, “President Clinton, why did you not do those things for us the last eight years???”
Clinton stood there with his mouth open and Jesse Jackson took the minister by the arm and led him back to the side...
Off subject “sort of”, but on the reality talent shows, I am often amazed to hear a contestant state, “Please let me stay one more week. I want to show you what I’ve got.” Then they continue, “I’ve got so much to show them and I haven’t had a chance yet.”
They say this after weeks of performances where they have been told to really “bring it” do the judges know how much talent they have.
In a way, that’s exactly what’s going on here.
Trump should list Obama’s promises, look at Hillary’s promises, and ask why we should trust them for four more years.
They can’t produce. They know they can’t. The public knows they can’t.
I agree with your take on it. It’s just silly.
Great story by the way. LOL
I totally agree Trump should list out all those promises and then tell the results...
Of course, you know the dems would say republicans in Congress wouldn’t let them do what they wanted...
I would welcome that.
I’d reveal that they didn’t submit bills to achieve their promises.
Trump’s outreach to try and get black votes has resulted in a 45 year old story of Fred and Donald Trump having an discrimination lawsuit filed against them in the early 70s. They refused to rent apartments to blacks on welfare, and anybody else on welfare. A sting operation was set up where a white woman applied for the same apartment and they let her rent it. Case was settled out of court. There was no wrong-doing on the part of Trump or his father admitted in the settlement. Roy Cohn was his attorney. Anyway this is the 45 year old story that CNN and MSNBC will be hyping till hell freezes over. The CNN racists are already calling for him to “come clean” on the “racial discrimination” case in 1973.
You have to be really careful who you let in. You get the wrong people in there and you’re ruined.
Pretty soon your good tenants are gone and you’re left with a section eight building that will be striped bare within months.
When these people are evicted, they take a sledge hammer to all porcelain fixtures, pour cement into your pipes, destroy your carpets and wood floors, strip the stove and refrigerator...
None of these reporters have to deal with things like that. Even if they did, they’d never give a guy like Trump an even handed presentation.
So a 43 year old story is going to bring down Trump? LOL
Pathetic
If you have Art of the Deal he mentions the case on page 98 and 99. Basically nothing to it.
