Salon Magazine has accused the Republican Party of being out of touch with post-Christian America, warning the GOP that if it doesnt renege on its alliance with Christianity, it will soon become irrelevant.
Ted Cruzs failure to get the GOP nomination, Matthew Sheffield proclaims in Salon, is a perfect window into trends that will set the pace of American politics for decades to come: Americans are moving away from Christianity, including people most likely to vote Republican.
To back up his claims, Sheffield cites the 2014 Pew Research study finding that 23 percent of Americans say theyre unaffiliated with any religious tradition, up from 20 percent just three years earlier. The trend away from religion, and Christianity in particular, Sheffield argues, is the real cause of Republicans woes and their failure to win the last two elections.
The likely reason why Republicans have declined in popularity among the non-religious is GOPs long habit of identifying itself as a Christian party,

The folks around here certainly hated Ted Cruz in part because he talked like a Christian. Bring us the casino magnate, the stripper mongerer, instead, they clamored.
Im firmly behind Trump because anyone is better than Clinton, but if the GOP nominated Trump, its pretty damned certain theyve already dumped Jesus.
Nonsense. Nobody likes Cruz because he talks like a Christian trolling for votes while raking in millions from sleazy Goldman Sachs and self admittedly giving basically nothing to charity.
What you said.
We know EXACTLY what the progressives want.
But they won’t say progressives should abandon Islam
Lol...the mindless mouth frothing rants of soulless leftist squishes who can already feel the flames of hell leaping up for them. This is just a prelude to their total collapse, and maybe even the salvage of a few of them from the lake of fire. News flash; “Jesus is returning, get on his good side now...”
No, I supported and donated to Cruz but his actions during the primary did not support how I believe a Christian would have behaved. In fact, it shocked us and we dropped him between January and February, never to donate again. Later when he betrayed his oath to support the nominee, I found I had no further use for him. Seemingly neither does the majority of voters in Texas so now he may have lost a senate seat for us on top of the other damage. Cruz has much to reflect on...
We need to refer to liberals as Christophobiacs and Islamophiliacs.
Sure. Libs really giving us heartfelt advice on how to beat them.
Nobody “around here” hated Ted Cruz because he talked like a Christian, whatever that means.
Ted Cruz started his slide down when he blamed Trump for the actions of the Bernie and Hillary Thugs outside the Rally that Trump cancelled in Chicago.
Piling on like a DemoncRat didn’t help Cruz. Becoming anointed by Glenn “Cheeto” Beck just greased the rails.
His failing to give even a lukewarm Endorsement of the Republican Nominee at the Convention affirmed to many people that he wasn’t the guy they thought he was.
Your assessment is way off base and yes, I am a former Cruzer.
Oh puhlease. Not one poster here loathed him "because he talked like a Christian." I, for one, loathed him because he is a reptilian charlatan. Evangelicals In "state after state after state" saw through him.
If it makes you feel better about your bad choices to think that, then you are entitled to your own opinion. But, you are not entitled to your own facts. We hated Cruz because he is a lying self-promoting tool. His Christianity had nothing to do with it.

Get a life
“Ive never understood treating dead bodies or cremains as though some personhood remained within. We buried Dad next to Mom makes no sense. When the soul has flown, its fate belongs to another place and dimension.”
That is for the remaining family and friends.
You have to look at it on a purely emotional level.
When mom and dad are buried side by side the children have the same sense of the family being together that was there when their parents were alive.
They have a place to visit and remember the good times.
Humans are frail and very emotional.
They know that the soul is gone and only the frail vessel is left but they need some emotional stability.
When my wife died I was devastated.
My world turned upside down.
I knew she was gone but it is very hard to let go.
I have her remains at home.
I have arranged for me to cremated when I die.
I have also arranged for our ashes to be worked into the rose garden of a local cemetery.
It makes no sense on a logical level, but it does on an emotional level.
I wouldn’t care much for a world where cold hard logic reigns.
I guess I’m just a boring old romantic.
Last Starfighter?
I must have missed that book or movie.

Salon feels we are in the pre-Muslim phase of America now and they are completely fine with that.
Bullshit
I dumped Cruz after he blamed the Chicago thugs on Trump like the media
Cruz is a charlatan
Destroying Christian America is what the left has done to dismantle our culture to replace it with my messianic statism
Nor am I surprised at who some of the primary antagonists are....this is by design especially from Hollywood
I submit that Cruz had MORE of the devil in him than Trump ever had.
He’s a sinisters, evil man. And I loved him only 3 months ago.
Divisive, hateful, spiteful, vengeful, egotistical, narcissistic to a dangerous level, and mentally imbalanced.
Plus stupid for falling into Trump’s trap by speaking but not endorsing at the convention.
in 2018 he’ll be selling burgers somewhere and complaining that only he knows how to make them right
Funny how they’re all for Allah.
[ Salon: GOP Must Dump Jesus or Risk Irrelevance in Post-Christian America ]
Well, Salon, you’re well on your way to Antichrist anyways. We’re not at all surprised.
Enjoy! Don’t say no one warned you!
