Salon Magazine has accused the Republican Party of being out of touch with post-Christian America, warning the GOP that if it doesnt renege on its alliance with Christianity, it will soon become irrelevant.
Ted Cruzs failure to get the GOP nomination, Matthew Sheffield proclaims in Salon, is a perfect window into trends that will set the pace of American politics for decades to come: Americans are moving away from Christianity, including people most likely to vote Republican.
To back up his claims, Sheffield cites the 2014 Pew Research study finding that 23 percent of Americans say theyre unaffiliated with any religious tradition, up from 20 percent just three years earlier. The trend away from religion, and Christianity in particular, Sheffield argues, is the real cause of Republicans woes and their failure to win the last two elections.
The likely reason why Republicans have declined in popularity among the non-religious is GOPs long habit of identifying itself as a Christian party,

A dead Salon atheist: all dressed up with no place to go!
;^)
The folks around here certainly hated Ted Cruz in part because he talked like a Christian. Bring us the casino magnate, the stripper mongerer, instead, they clamored.
I’m firmly behind Trump because anyone is better than Clinton, but if the GOP nominated Trump, it’s pretty damned certain they’ve already dumped Jesus.
Salon is worried about the GOP and wants the GOP to succeed!
Isn’t that sweet?
Only if the left dumps Marx and Obama.
Another opportunity for Trump to hammer the socialists, especially with the traditional older black and Latino vote. Crazy not to. Make it a week long hammer. Wouldn’t be pandering...would be a win/win. Time to show minorities how they are duped by the left real agenda.
Choo chooo..!
All aboard The Irrelevance Express..!
ALL ABOARD..!!
“Me first..!”

...
Ted Cruz talked like a preachy preacher who couldn’t be trusted.
Hogwash.
Who here thinks it’s a good idea to take advice from Salon?
But of course, the DNC may continue their cozy alliance with Islam.
Does this mean I can go outside and scream ALLAH AKBAR to everyone
The ‘Rats have something important in common with Muslims. Both have been cozy with Satan for a long time.
I have an idea - drop what ever those maggots are. I don’t go there . I don’t eat maggots.
That much-valued political advice from Salon.
The democrats need to dump Islamophilia.
Now we have gotten to the heart of the matter. The politics and motives of the left are the motives of the Antichrist, to denounce and deny Jesus as the world’s savior, and to abolish Him from the hearts, minds and souls of Americans.
A dead salon atheist, ALREADY has gone somewhere, and I seriously doubt the dead atheist is going to like it much. 😀😆😄
Dump Jesus or risk irrelevance? Uh...relevance to what, exactly? One would think with the customary liberal reverence for Diversity a little religious diversity might be tolerated as well as the intellectual and ideological diversity that is...oh, well, neither one of those is tolerated either, come to think of it. The author is really only insisting that everyone be as intolerant, ignorant, and spiritually miserable as he is. Then he’ll allow we’re “relevant”. Some deal.
