I used to wonder what the heck my kid was doing in there, and what he was bracing himself against. He was a regular little gymnast.

He isn’t nearly as active now... playing a computer game right now.

Years ago (early 70's,before Roe v Wade) I worked in the Pathology Department of a world famous hospital.One day I had to go into the autopsy room to get something and decided to take a minute or two to look at some of the many containers,of various sizes,that were lined up along the floor and on several shelves.The containers contained various human organs and other tissues and were there for use in research (major hospitals like mine do *lots* of research).

One of the smaller containers that caught my eye was a jar that looked like it was once a larger pickle jar.In it were several human fetuses in a clear solution (probably formalin).These fetuses were very probably stillborns or miscarriages (again.before Roe v Wade) and were all about the size of my thumb yet were perfectly formed and absolutely couldn't be mistaken for anything but a tiny human being.One was positioned in a way that I could see his/her fingers and it was obvious that the child needed his/her fingernails clipped.

It's an image from about 45 years ago that's as vivid in my brain as if I saw it 30 seconds ago.
