Paul Manafort, Donald Trumps campaign chairman, resigned from the campaign on Friday, according to Fox News.
This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign. I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success, Trump stated in a press release on Friday.

I’m not sure what people can really “insist” re: Trump. It has been a great week though.
Exactly. Like Lewandowski, Manafort understands the nature of this move.
Trump understands the MSM's MO extremely well. He knows that like a Zombie, they must now scramble for their next body elsewhere.
A day and a half. I’m mildly surprised it took Manafort that long.
This is the first proof-positive that Trump might be in trouble, and I am a Trump fanatic.
The man in the middle is Roger Stone - close ally to Nixon.

Hey Laz....did you forget the “/s” tag?
Except that there are legitimate reasons for the departure. His expertise more primary than general election weighted and his Russia issue.
Interesting take, Laz. Since Conway and Bannon took over I’ve had only positive thoughts about the campaign and Trump. Manafort is a pro, but I think Conway and Bannon get the mood and the feeling of the country. I don’t know that Manafort does- his strengths seem more practical, while Bannon’s are more anti-corruption anti-status quo. Perfect for Trump.
This is the first proof-positive that Trump might be in trouble, and I am a Trump fanatic.
No, it’s proof positive that it’s a good move toward a win.
Fair enough.
Cue Nelson Muntz.
Bring back Lebowski.
Makes sense for Kellyanne not to take the role of campaign manager if Trump isn’t going to agree to do at least what she thinks is critical for the success of the campaign.
So could very well not be coincidence that he has adopted the teleprompter now for his regular campaign rallies—and not just major policy speeches.
Sometimes alpha guys can actually hear and respond to things better coming from a woman they trust, as opposed to a man. With the number of women Trump has promoted in his companies over the decade and his close working relationship with his daughter Ivanka, it is possible he’s that kind of guy.
Buy Conway is also very, very good.
I get very worried when there are campaign reorgs.
Those usually happen before defeats.
“Time to shedd this man I guess since the MSM is trying to tie him with cash from overseas. Cant be against something when you have someone who might be doing what your against.”
I have no idea if it is about that. I tend to think it is more ego on Manafort’s part.
But I did hear some guy from Politico bragging on the Dr Drew show about how they are coming out with a big story on Trump today or tomorrow.
I am sure it will be their usual distortion, half-lies and full-on lies hit job. I did wonder if it had to do with Manafort along these lines (who in objective analysis is not a good guy).
He’s cutting the foreign agent MSM meme short because he’s going to hammer Hillary on foreign money and favors in ads. The MSM would parry with “they all do it” and “hypocrite” if Manafort were still there...not too mention keep up the Russian bogeyman for the coming hack revelations - tying Putin to Trump as ridiculous as that is.
Manafort will not be calling the shots now and I don’t think he’s the kind of guy to ride along while others do call them. For both of these reasons, he’s leaving - probably on his own advice.
Good to do the hatchet work before Labor Day, things will get white hot after.
I take this transition as a very good sign for the campaign indeed.
Conway is terrific, they’ve got very good ads going up in swing states this weekend, and Trump is now also leading with an admirable pitch to minorities. (That move may be the single best approach for luring in white suburban women who also are with Trump on his position re: “refugees” and allowing potential terrorists into the country, but are afraid of being seen backing someone whom others think of as racist.)
lol...
Fairly salient analysis, albeit Manafort is wealthy - like oligarch wealthy - and doesn't need much taking care of lol...Manafort came aboard more as a favor to Trump and nothing like an employee...
reporting this on Fox on the morn talking show it read something about concerns Manafort was “mailing (it) out” I do not have a clue what they meant...had Erik on saying his father didn’t want the distractions...
In a prior life, I was an officer in a $400 Million company who reported directly to the Chairman on all M&A projects.
A successful CEO will recognize the current challenge and mission and match talents to address the new mission.
Manafort’s mission was to manage the delegates and convention which he did quite successfully.
With the convention behind us, the campaign has a new mission that requires a different talent(s).
Bannon and KellyAnn are far more media savy than Manafort.
Bottom line: Trump is managing his campaign as he has his company.
“Don’t go wobbly on us!” :-)
