Rio de Janeiro (CNN)[Breaking news update, posted at 3:39 p.m. ET]:
Civil Police chief Fernando Veloso said at a press conference about four American swimmers: "In theory, one or all of them might be charged for false communication of a crime and for damaging private assets, the gas station. I'm not saying that they are charged right now because of that. We have to finalize the investigation and in theory that could be the case. This is not really a -- this kind of crime will not lead to their arrest."

Thanks a lot, a-holes.
#RioClownCops....
Very sad If Brazil wants them to do time in jail so be it
These guys effed up...Not too smart....
Big govt, in control of all the cameras, able to edit without accountability. I am not so fast to shove these few athletes under the bus.
Many of these athletes are merely children in adult bodies who can swim/run fast. Not the majority, but as they say in the military one “oh s***” wipes out a thousand attaboys.
If we had foreign nationals doing stuff like that...
Oh wait a minute.
We have them doing far worse, and they haven’t won a single medal.
Here they murder, rape, molest children, steal cars, burglarize homes and businesses, participate in civil disturbances. Trash U. S. Citizens for objecting.
And we and our nation are the bad folks, if we object.
Gee Brazil, thanks for showing us what we should be doing.
As if some of us didn’t already know.
At this point we know Lochte lied on national television.
It is perplexing. Why would they bother to trash a bathroom and then make up the robbery story? It’s hard to imagine the thought process.
So did Bill and Hillary Clinton..Lochte should say “Hey at this point what difference does it make”
“#RioClownCops”
If you mean they caught some clowns, you are right
Probably no small sum from endorsements
This really is completely screwy.
My understanding now is that this may not be “vandalism”, but accidental damage. Maybe even minor. Possibly due to them being drunk, but either way, sounds like they incidentally damaged something, then were threatened with a gun unless they paid up. Then perhaps were demanded more money than it was possibly worth (extortion).
Sounds like excessive reaction to me, so far.
Lochte also saying whole section missing from film.
We’ll see.
I think Lochte told his mother who then told the media. They probably didn’t expect it to get out like it did.

Could this have anything to do with Russia being thisclose to Brazil? Russia couldn't get swimming medals so they'd work a way to sabotage endorsements for the Americans?
I in no way condone what they did, but indicting someone for making a false public statement that did not defame any specific identifiable individual is not a criminal act.
The judge and the police have their shorts in a bunch because they feel their nation’s image has been tarnished. Nevermind that rampant poverty, crime and child homelessness. This is purely an abuse of judicial and police power; par for the course in the Third World.
They were drunk at 6am. They needed to piss.
The door was locked. They kicked the door in to take a piss.
They got back in the taxi. Guard appearing to be law reinforcement wanted them to stay until the cops got there.
The swimmers wanted to leave. The guard pulled a weapon on them and they paid for the damage + $100.
They were not “robbed” but were held at gunpoint until they handed over money.
-Now-
A black Fox news contributor said how disgusting and ugly the American swimmers were to go to another country and vandalize the bathroom door. Just ugly he said. Well..
Why the F@#$ doesn’t that black Fox news contributor say anything about Blacks burning down cities they don’t even live in here in America?
They are young and dumb and were drunk. Stupid on their part but they were held at gunpoint and they did hand over money.
Wow. Unbelievable.
