Donald Trump isn't a 'baby Christian'
Santa Cruz Sentinel ^ | 08/16/2016 | Sally Vance-Trembath

The late, great Father Ted Hesburgh used to tell incoming students, "Come to Notre Dame and lose your faith." Many would be confused by that line, given that Notre Dame is a Catholic university, but the point Father Ted was making was that faith is more than a list of ideas or concepts and that it needs to be challenged by rigorous thinking and translated into action. All talk and no action does not make for a faithful Christian, and that's why Donald Trump's condescending words to an evangelical audience in Orlando took my breath away.

What would the word Christian possibly mean if it is used to describe the Republican presidential candidate? His statements and behaviors explicitly contradict the most foundational principles of Christianity.

But pro abortion Democrats are Christian? The author teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at Santa Clara University a Catholic university and I wonder if she has ever taken Catholic California senator Pelosi to task for her pro abortion stance?

Father Ted Hesburgh may be late (as in dead) but he was not great, not in the eyes of faithful Catholics.

I don’t know if Donald Trump is an evangelical Christian, but he is the only candidate willing to defend the Christian faith! I pray every day for Pence and him and pray that an unrepentant Hillary will fail in everything she attempts!

Any article that starts out with “late, great Father Ted Hesburgh” is straight from Satan.

Hesburgh was in bed with the pro-abortion Ford and Rockefeller foundations in the 1950’s, pushing contraception and abortion. Hesburgh and Bernardin are the best friends in the Catholic Church the abortionists ever had.

The man is walking away from a freakin’ billionaire’s lifestyle, to take on what is possibly the most stressful job on earth to anyone with an ounce of conscienciousness, for the sake of his country, fer crimminy!

“No greater love” and all that.

“Christianity is a Practice”

This writer is a fraud! I bet he thinks too “practice” makes perfect. Only one thing is necessary - BELIEVE! Amen.

Trump is a crusader willing to defend Christianity against Islamic jihad. He will in fact take the fight to them.

Also, he desires to defend Christians from jihadists.

Brings to mind the “he who is isn’t against us is for us” verse.

Dobson Explains Why He Called Trump a ‘Baby Christian’

James Dobson didn’t realize his off-the-cuff remarks about Donald Trump’s faith would set off so many questions about the Republican candidate’s alleged recommitment to Christ.

The former Focus on the Family leader, who has endorsed Trump, publicly addressed the situation for the first time in a letter sent to followers today, stating he “didn’t waffle on anything” when he had to clarify that he didn’t know the exact details of Trump’s relationship with Jesus.

Yes, to Hell, he is taking on half the world and his weapon is Common Sense and Truth. Tough to be a prophet. I pray for him every day too.

His statements and behaviors explicitly contradict the most foundational principles of Christianity.

Really? What might those principles be? That Jesus of Nazareth was/is God incarnate? That He lived among us, preached and taught, was crucified, died, was buried and rose from the dead? That consequently, salvation from sins is given by God to men freely as a gift of grace? How has Donald Trump explicitly contradicted these assertions?

Or is it, perhaps, the case that Sally Vance-Trembath has no clue what Christianity is all about?

I don’t know if Donald Trump is an evangelical Christian, but he is the only candidate willing to defend the Christian faith! I pray every day for Pence and him and pray that an unrepentant Hillary will fail in everything she attempts! I stand with this as well. I've heard Trumps comments on Christianity and, setting aside all denominational issues, I have a hard time believing he even understands was the basic idea of salvation through Christ even means. Regardless, I do believe him to be more trustworthy as a defender of Christians than Hillary will be so he gets my vote. At this point, trying to pick a politician that is genuinely Christian is like trying to potty train a cat. Statistically you'll get a few, but expectations should be a minimum.

These sanctimonious sad sacks just can’t give it up. A vote not for Trump is a vote for certainty that a left wing Supreme Court which Hillary will have with her first pick as President will set the stage to set back the Prolife cause 50 years or even further. Its fully possible that a Court with a left wing majority may rule that laws requiring that Obstetrician offices be required to offer abortions are constitutional. How will these sanctimonious fools feel when every Drs office that serves reproductive health becomes a de facto Abortion clinic? Don’t believe it then you haven’t studied the left well enough because they fully intend to use the law to force their warped view on every American. There is no opt out in their view of the world. There is no coexistence.

There is only one thing that will come with Hillary Clinton as President and that is the end of America as we know it in ways that only Obama could dream. Imagine if Obama had a majority on the Supreme Court to rubberstamp his every executive overreach? Anyone who wants to let Clinton have this power because Trump isn’t reflective enough is a FOOL. They are people that would rather play a game of pretend than hear someone speak hard truths and actually deal with the pile of crap that is Washington DC as it is not with a smile but with a scowl rebuking it.
