If it was a primary, the candidate picks watchers. For a general election, the *party* picks watchers.
Here’s the Colorado law for election watchers:
...”Watcher” means an eligible elector other than a candidate on the ballot who has been selected by a political party chairperson on behalf of the political party
by a party candidate at a primary election,
by an unaffiliated candidate at a general, congressional vacancy, or nonpartisan election, or by a person designated by either the opponents or the proponents in the case of a ballot issue or ballot question.
If selected by a political party chairperson, a party candidate, or an unaffiliated candidate, the watcher shall be affiliated with that political party or unaffiliated as shown on the registration books of the county clerk and recorder...

Help Wanted in several States including swing States
Poll watchers in Texas have very specific rules. They can observe but not have any contact with voters. They can make notes, but not interfere with the process.
Doesn’t seem very effective.
How long is an Observer generally expected to be there?
A minimum of 4 hours, 6, 8? Or does one typically inform the
Voter Site Supervisor of what you are willing to do?
Are you usually given breaks, i.e. bathroom or 10 minutes here and there to walk around and stay alert or answer phone calls?
I’m interested, but want some idea of what is usually expected before I give Trump my email.
Answers to you questions may depend on the precinct, town, etc. Upon receipt of info turns out you cannot, they will contact the next person on list.
I gave Trump my email in January—it has been fine :)

I'm doing it one better...I am the presiding judge in one of our voting precincts here in Ohio. Everyone who comes in to vote has to see me first and I have the right to challenge. I have three other judges working with me.
