Sweden may have the answer to America’s gun problem(NOT! Idiot alert!)

As we face a firearm crisis in America today, it’s time for hunters to stop hiding behind the Second Amendment and claim the moral high ground as our nation’s responsible gun owners.

Here’s how the Swedish system works: Only responsible people are trusted with firearms. Sweden licenses guns in much the same way we license cars and drivers. You can have up to six guns but can get more with special permission.

To apply for a firearm permit you must first take a year-long hunter training program and pass a written and shooting test. You can also apply for a gun permit if you’ve been a member of an established shooting club for six months.

In addition to undergoing training, Sweden’s gun owners must store their firearms safely. Guns must be locked away in a vault, not stored beneath your car seat or in the nightstand where your kids can find them.

If you read through the entire article, it becomes clear the "un-American" American author's real intention is to have a National Gun Registry.

My response to this is (quoting BGen McAuliffe) "Nuts!".

As we face a firearm crisis in America today?...............The only ‘crisis’ we have is the dearth of ammunition and CCW’s...................

It was indeed a very painful read.
This person likely never held a firearm in his entire life.
It would be easy to fabricate a story like this one.

There is no gun problem. We're certainly in a bit of an ammo problem, though.

I've given up asking people obsessed with regulating honest citizens what good they think that will do against the real problem, which is criminal possession and use. They're in the position of the drunk looking for his car keys under the street light because that's the only place he can see.

To a home invader: Hang on a sec while I unlock my guns from the safe or run down to the local gun club to get it.

When the Government comes to collect my guns, as a good citizen, I will surrender them, starting one bullet at a time.

The Second Amendment was based partially on the right to keep and bear arms in English common law and was influenced by the English Bill of Rights of 1689. Sir William Blackstone described this right as an auxiliary right, supporting the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state. 2nd A is not for hunting.

If the gooberment has determined you're responsible enough to own six guns why do you need speshul permission to own more than six?

Liberal logic never ceases to be stupid.

Europe is stuck on stupid.

There is actually a mindset in European countries that a brain drain of smart people left European nations and went to the USA, therefore Americans OWE a rescue to Europe.

I haven't seen the statistics recently, but I have heard that if you exclude predominantly black areas from consideration, the rest of the U.S. has homicide and violence rates comparable to the typical European country.

Anti-gunners seem to consistently miss this point.

We don't have a gun problem. We have a people problem.

Don’t forget the umbrella stand... that’s good for holding them long guns! Oh yeah, and the toilet tank, gotta have one in there in case you get burgled while you’re on the “throne”!

“Yeah, Americans are soooo stoopid’ that we just leave guns lying around the house like the kitchen, coffee table, the kids playroom”

I have one on the coffee table right now, next to this computer I’m using. But don’t worry: the very second it shows any indication of wanting to fire itself, I’ll have it put in gun jail.

I could leave it there—I won’t, but I could—until the last trump, and my kids would never touch it.
