Trump successfully baits media into hysteria. Again.
americanthinker.com ^ | Thomas Lifson

Because everyone knows that Trump’s followers are barely civilized, some of them in more distant regions man-ape hybrids. And everyone knows that “Second Amendment people” are not united behind part of the Bill of Rights; they are using that as disguise of their true nature as bloodthirsty assassins.

The media are once again making themselves appear ridiculous, twisting Trump’s words and exposing their own disdain for Trump’s followers. They are following a general script. Samantha Strayer of The Federalist identifies the pattern:

The media frenzy surrounding this election, the 24/7 news-cycle, and Trump’s gumption ensure we’re constantly talking about him, analyzing his every move. (snip)

many criticisms of Trump have been rather hysterical, sophomoric, and downright lewd. As if set on auto-repeat, headlines, tweets, and the like squeal XENOPHOBE! FASCIST! RACIST! DEMAGOGUE! PUDGY FINGERS! Eerily in sync, media outlets and Trump haters described his convention speech — and his soul! — as DARK!

Trump obviously knows this, and yet he keeps feeding anti-Trumpers ambiguous opportunities to vent their mania. There are two possible means of explaining this. Either, as a friend who shall remain anonymous emailed me:

  1. “Trump went one whole day without saying something really stupid. Two days was too much to ask.” Or
  2. Trump is exercising some political jujitsu, able to anticipate the opposition’s reaction and planning to use their momentum against them.
If Trump had so little self-awareness and self-control as the first alternative hypothesizes, could he have built the empire he has created? I would note that in The Art of the Deal, he brags about psyching out his rivals in negotiations.

Trump is using political jujitsu, all the hand wringing, including here on FR, notwithstanding.

Unlike Obama, Trump truly is so smart a lot of people can’t understand him.

I have found the MEDIA is a very good source for “the laugh of the day.” Pick anything Trump says and the hysterical reaction is so automatic and stupid that watches has become more amusing than M*A*S*H reruns.
On FOX, last night, a “reporter”, chosen for her looks as opposed to her brains, carried on about we “gun clingers just aching to shoot up the neighborhood. Best laugh in several days.
Tonight I may take 2 aspirin and try CNN.

As they do for anyone who threatens their stranglehold on power, they monitor everything thing he says, looking for something to get him on. They replay and analyze every word.

Hill doesn’t have to worry. This is not done to her. The media hides damaging facts.

Same thing every election, but this one is worse.

A lot of people confuse sounding intellectual with being intelligent. Trump doesn’t speak Harvard, so the bumpkins assume that’s he’s a bumpkin.

For Trump, the press is trivially easy to troll. They take every piece of bait he casually drops, as well as bait that they imagine he is dropping.

Trump is far smarter than the average bear. I’ll give you that.

The problem is that half our electorate is dumb as a brick. Too dumb to pick-up on what he is trying to tell them.

At least it is genuine Queens. Unlike Hillary's phony "nowaaays tahhhrd" voice she uses in front of black audiences.

I think much of the hand wringing around here is because some of our fellow Freepers have a traditional mindset in thinking what a presidential campaign is supposed to be like. Look, Trump won the GOP nomination by not following conventional rules. Why expect him to follow tradition now? As if that helped in the last two elections. All the angst over him not spending money yet on commercials. People wetting their pants with every word he says. Trump is well aware of the game the Uniparty and their media arm is trying to play on him, and he’s throwing it back in their faces. They may have damaged him with this relentless attack, but they didn’t destroy his campaign.

It's truly a treat watching DJT and his team stay a couple moves ahead of the Enemedia !

The very nature of the far left psychosis of their presstitution gives one hope of sooner/later witnessing their utter humiliation and/or total destruction.

my fingers are crossed for the latter, quite frankly

That is an oustanding point, FRiend !

(and one I hope the presstitutes never figure out .. makes swatting them so much easier ;-)

——fellow Freepers have a traditional mindset-—

The condition is “existing in a rut”

At some point, the rut becomes so deep one can’t see over the sides. The fact there is life outside the rut can no longer be discerned. To leave the rut requires intellectual effort that will not be expended.

You can’t blame people for being nervous. We’ve watched both George W. and Romney go down in flames by not defending themselves as the sh*tstorm of Democrat attacks ramped up to 11. To the point where even the most absurd attacks were believed by the public (Bush lied....Romney gives people cancer)

The longer Trump lies in wait to make his move the more nervous people are going to become.

These days, the mere mention of a gun in a conversation gets liberals in a whirlwind of lunacy.

If you happen to be an individual who owns a gun, talks about guns or goes to a practice range, you are painted as a criminal.

Brilliant move on Trump’s part.

PS: I won a rifle last night in a FOPA gun raffle for all you “normal” thinking people..

“fellow Freepers have a traditional mindset in thinking what a presidential campaign is supposed to be like.”

I agree with your post.

We all want someone that will go to Washington and kick down doors, break windows, and flip the current bunch on their heads. But we think the one that will do that will have a nice PC campaign to get there?

Just doesnt make sense. Embrace the ruckus, it is what our politics have needed for a long time...a real hell raiser.....another Andrew Jackson!

Something came to mind reading this. In the 5th grade, we had to memorize a poem & recite it before the class. I loved Christopher Robin/Winnie the Pooh & A.A. Milne’s poems. The one I memorized was about Christopher Robin .... he has “wheezles & sneezles” & doctors are all trying to figure out what the condition is and it turns into a big deal with lots of speculation & theories of potentially terrible outcomes .... the poem ends with this:

Christopher Robin
Got up in the morning,
The sneezles had vanished away.
And the look in his eye
Seemed to say to the sky,
“Now, how to amuse them today?

The media & so-called pundits get majorly balled up daily (if not hourly) in the “wheezles and sneezles” and Trump is their Christopher Robin.
