BLOOMFIELD A 62-year-old man was beaten with a crowbar by a complete stranger who allegedly took issue with the man's Donald Trump T-shirt, police said Tuesday.
The man was walking on West Passaic Avenue on Wednesday when a man he did not know pulled up in an older gray car, Bloomfield police said.
The driver questioned the 62-year-old about the Donald Trump shirt he was wearing, and then followed him into the parking lot of the Friendly's restaurant on Broad Street, police said. The man then got out of his car with a crowbar, and during an altercation, struck the older man several times, authorities said.
Police said the man believes the T-shirt sparked the initial contact and prompted the altercation. Authorities are investigating.

The problem in NJ is that there are so many government workers (municipal, county, state, fed) that no area is safe; I live a couple of miles east of Bloomfield, which is mixed - mainly nice parts with some ghetto near Newark. The government workers infest most non-ghetto areas as our upper middle class...
The problem with NJ is also demographics. I grew up in Bergen County, Wood-Ridge, which like most of Bergen was very nice, very conservative and routinely went Republican. Parts of Bergen County however have been run over by illegals. Essex and Hudson counties are 2 nightmares as well. It’s sad to see what’s happening. NJ used to be such a great state, but no longer.
I’m in Hudson, which is solid Democrat; the whole state (especially the expensive northeast) is losing its American population (and employers) as they flee the absurd tax burden, and the state is simply trafficking government-dependent foreigners to replace them to keep housing and classrooms full (to keep the government worker caste employed). Christie is unsuccessfully trying to stem the tide, but he is just delaying the inevitable; like neighboring NY state, NJ is taxing itself into oblivion.
Loved the “Great Escape” just south of Wood-Ridge; that was back in NJ’s heyday...

They are political agitators 24/7, 365 days per year. In this case, if the attacker wasn’t a ‘hoodrat then I suspect he was a government employee. They know taxpayers resent the burden they place on them, and basically live in their own bubble.
The local news here in NJ made sure to point out that both parties said things, and ended the story by leading into Trump’s “threat” against Hillary.
Pathetic, blatant campaigning for Hillary by our “free” press...
