GOP at 'new level of panic' over Trump," ran the banner Washington Post headline on August 4. Just two weeks earlier Donald Trump had accepted his party's presidential nomination, marking the occasion with an effective if not elegant speech. A few days later, polls showed Trump opening up a slight lead over Hil-lary Clinton.
Then came the Democratic convention, well-produced but not particularly notableexcept for the speech of Gold Star father Khizr Khan. Even this powerful statement would have drifted quickly into the rear-view mirror but for Donald Trump's grotesque and undisciplined reaction to it, which continued for days on end. Now his poll numbers are cratering, and GOP leaders are at a new level of panic.
The Post found panickers all overfrom party chairman Reince Priebus, who is said to be "very frustrated," to Newt Gingrich, quoted as saying that "right now" Trump is not an "acceptable" candidate; from Rudy Giuliani in New York, trying to arrange an "intervention" with the candidate, to RNC member Henry Barbour in Mississippi, also "frustrated." Other strategists, named and unnamed, make an appearance in the article. The panic room is a popular place for GOP big shots to huddle in these days.

I was wondering where he has been. I asked on that night Trump was nominated if any family member’s checked in at Kristols house to see if he was OK.
These chickens need to join a part more in tune with their thinking, perhaps the democrat party.
Oh there’s panic alright.
But it’s not coming from us.
Is it just me or did this article lay an egg?
He was busy finding a new “chump” to run for president. In this case he found Evan Million to be the globalists next puppet in their attempt to deny Trump the presidency. Wonder how much Mitt and the boys paid for this loser to run.
The Ruling Class Globalists are the ones Panicking, not the Average American.
Interesting, an article dated August 15, 2016 and posted on August 8, 2016.
Damn the lies and the liars! Full speed ahead!
He’s recycling the recycled garbage. LMAO. What a tool.
So, Billy boy is a chicken?................
I was reading this and thinking, “This guy gets paid to write?” It would be like going to listen to a professional opera singer, only to find him singing out of key.
The article is immature, and dripping with sarcasm. It exposes this man as a snarky, two bit intellectual masquerading as a real journalist. I wrote better in High School.
If you listen to Steve Hayes, too, you quickly realize that he never listens to a Trump rally or reads anything written or posted by Trump. His one and only comment about Trump is, “That the man spends most of his time attacking others, instead of giving us substantial ideas and proposals.”
I think I had a free trial of the Weekly Standard many years ago. I got the 3 free issues, then promptly canceled when the first bill arrived.
Kristol and the others at that magazine, I call the “Weekly Standard of Mediocrity,” should write for the liberals.
King of the PUKEneocons.
First line needs another syllable?
You know it Brother, if Hillary Rotten Criminal were still having monthly periods, Bill Kristol would be begging to insert and remove her tampons.
