Your friend caused the delay?
And what would you turn it to? Fox News? Because that is the #NeverTrump channel.
Not many choices. Better to just turn it off!
Shouldn’t Delta be taking care of Plats and Diamonds by providing overnight accommodations, etc.?
The “weird thing” is that both Delta and Southwest have built single points of failure into their systems. Driving into work, Fox Business reported that the failure is due to a power outage in Atlanta. Back up power either did not work or was not present.
If this report is accurate, Delta needs to fire whoever did not ensure backup power was continiously available for this critical system.
Additionally, Delta needs to identify and configure a back up system (electronic or manual) to ensure continuity of operations. I am reasonably confident that the cost of a system would be less that the cost of a total system shutdown.
They probably gave him a bonus last year for hitting his budget and headcount targets. :)

Doesn't DAL have a second data center in Eagan, MN?
In airports, the people in charge of the TVs get PAID to put on CNN. It’s that simple. CNN has contracts with most major airports.

Going to be an awful day for traveling on Delta!!

Going to be an awful day at most any airport as people try to change flights.
For all we know they’ve got terror threats that they think are very real.
In theory, any system could be hacked. One would hope that the more mission-critical the system however, the more safeguards are in place to protect against it.
I don’t know. I normally fly American or United, I fly out of Charlotte a lot and Delta is usually too pricey.
Evidently they don’t spend that money on IT.
8:40 a.m. ET UPDATE: A Delta ground stop has been lifted and limited departures are resuming following a power outage in Atlanta that impacted Delta computer systems and operations worldwide.

Looks like the system is getting back on its feet.
The CNN feed to airports must be the most reliable network in the entire world. It NEVER goes down. Hardened and 100% hacker-proof.
