I remember as a boy living in base housing overseas. Dad brought home cases of the DDT in aerosol cans (that old OD color with NSNs, etc.).
Nightly in the summertime truck tankers with DDT and heavy duty foggers would cruise the base housing areas.
In the 70s coming from Okinawa on emergency leave in a C-141 they wouldn’t let us leave the plane and two airmen walked up and down the bay, a can of DDT in each hand spraying the cans until they were empty.
The stuff worked.

My house is overrun by fleas. I have used everything in Lowe’s arsenal and they are still here. The house is dusted with Hot Shot flea and bedbug powder to the point where it looks like a scene from “Scareface.” “Say hello to my little friend! He’s a flea.”
I am working at properties in the woods where there are so many ticks one of my fellow workers picked off 57, by actual count. The warm winter is allowing them to proliferate like some horror movie monsters. (Don’t let them suck your blood after midnight.)

DDT was grossly over used (I am from S. Louisiana, and remember the government "bombing" campaign, dropping DDT-laced cornmeal from airplanes in an effort to stop the spread of fire ants (failed)), but it should be available for limited uses...the total ban is stupid in the extreme.

Growing up in the Panama Canal Zone in the late 60s/early 70s, I remember chasing those DDT trucks, running through the “fog” as thry drove past the palyground. Never had any health issues and all of my kids have turned out fine.
