He said the Germans were a tough enemy.
Were they sick and demented? Yes.
But he said he kept mowing them down and he was shooting and crying and they kept coming.
My grandpa was at Saipan/Iwo/etc (on the USS Nevada and his brother was with Patton thru Europe...I will honor them with all I have to give.
I’m not stacking all this gear for nothing.
He did the right thing. Painful as it was. I thank him for his service.
A sad situation.
