I’m not directing this to you, but I never understood the admiration for Napoleon. He left Frenchmen to die in Egypt, and in Russia, and in Spain, and at Waterloo, etc.

Why there are monuments to his memory is a mystery to me.

At times I don’t understand it either. But despite all his many faults, he was a superlative general who seemed to create something out of nothing - like Genghis Khan
