He’s charged with 4 charges: disorderly conduct; simple assault; reckless endangerment of another person; causing or risking catastrophe.
All are pretty much related to Sturman’s having injured, or tried to injure, the patriot, and one or two charges could be made to stick, resulting in jail time. Smart move by the PD.
If the cops had tried to charge him for flag burning or inciting riot, those would have been tossed, since Texas v Johnson decided in 1988 that flag burning is 1A protected “speech .” Scalia voted with the majority on this.
Greg “Joey” Johnson, the aging RCPer who was the Johnson in that case, btw, is still burning flags and raving about evil capitalism that he knows nothing about, having never held a job.
Johnson was likely standing somewhere in the crowd egging on this Sturman guy.
Anytime you see American flags burning, it’s RCP. It’s essentially the only thing they know how to do.
