A mobster known as the "Pittsburgh connection" for the real-life gangsters portrayed in the Oscar-winning movie "Goodfellas" died Thursday evening after he suffered a heart attack at an Ormond Beach bar.
Eugene "Nick the Blade" Gesuale, 73, was having his customary Pinot Grigio at Past Times Restaurant and Bar, when he suddenly fell over," said bar manager David Ruiz.
"He was on his cellphone and it looked as if he was having a seizure," Ruiz said Friday afternoon. "I called 9-1-1."
Ruiz said Gesuale, who was released from federal prison in October 2014 after serving 24 years for racketeering and drug trafficking, was a regular at the bar, which just opened in May at 709 S. Nova Road.

“And there was nothing we could do about it.”
I believe you mean: “And we couldn’t do nothing about it.”
And there was nothing we could do about it.

Is this where you drink?
I used to be on pretty good terms with him (because I'm step-dad to his 2 kids) until about 10 years ago when he fell on hard times and asked me to cosign a mortgage for him... which I declined. Oh well.
Joe Pesce was actually a combination of two real life gangsters.
The one he most represented in the movie was a BIG guy which is kind of ironic.
Story has it his friend’s kid was crying cause the ice cream man passed him by without stopping. He took the kid in the car, found the ice cream man and said he’d kill him if he ever drove by the kid again.
Me, I personally would have just bought the kid a cone.
That one on the right looks like he is a funny guy.
They look like pretty good fellas.
... but he’s funny how, I mean funny like he’s a clown, he amuses you? he make you laugh, he’s here to f***in’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How is he funny?
I think he looks wise. Yeah, definitely a wise guy.
Funny? Funny how? Like a clown? Like he amuses you?
(Sorry digger, you did it better.)
Now he looks like a funny guy!
I mean like a clown. He amuses me.
#9 I am surprised you did not end up in the trunk of that car.......
Henry Hill said the real guy who was played by Pesci was way crazier and more dangerous than the character in the movie.
Maybe he was exaggerating, I don't know.
