CNN is pushing back on claims that one of its lead news anchors was seen celebrating Hillary Clinton's historic nomination for president Thursday night, calling the accusation "absurd."
A video circulating online shows anchor Wolf Blitzer dancing to Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" while drinking from a glass and waving his hands in the air, apparently at the network's CNN Grill in Philadelphia. "CNN celebrates Hillary: Blitzer toasts speech, dancing, party!" reads a headline at the conservative Drudge Report, linking to the video.
But a CNN spokesman said Friday that Blitzer was not showing bias toward the Democratic nominee, only celebrating the end of the network's coverage of both parties' national conventions.
"After two straight weeks on the road covering both conventions, the last night at the Grill was a time to unwind, have a drink and celebrate CNN's tremendous success," said a statement from the network.
"CNN staffers and their guests both Republicans and Democrats, joined in the fun. To suggest it was anything more than that is, quite simply, absurd."
BS
No one believes them.
No one.
This dumbellski grew up near me
I vaguely remember him
There was something wrong with him even then
Bob Dylan: ‘You’re a liar. I don’t believe you.’
What Republicans? I watched CNN and I didn't see any Republicans.
...suuuuure
Poor Jeffrey Lord. He’s out manned 7-1.
CNN is always doing standup.
Ok. Who paid for the wine?
Busted
They do have that one Andrew Jackson lookalike who is a Republican.
I was at the RNC convention and sat near the CNN booth. Wolfe Blitzer stood for the entire pledge and national anthem every night. As did all of the people in Anderson Cooper’s booth. Sean Hannity, Brett Baer, and the rest of Fox stood up for the pledge and anthem on the nights they were in the booth. Say what you want about their politics and their reporting, but they had the respect to stand for the pledge and anthem every time.
The same cannot be said for Megyn Kelly. She talked through it two nights.
Wolf finally answered a Jeopardy question correctly and was celebrating.
LOL! Maybe he was also celebrating the end of WW II.
I tend to believe them- It is difficult to imagine anyone being excited about Hillary..
Bull Obama.
What ridiculous little people.
