Mine was "Double tap boy, always double tap. Don't give them a chance to get back up. Keep shooting to keep them down if you have to."
I’ve forwarded this video link to Bethany 6.
Concur. However, if you happen to be in a gun-free zone, you really should comply with the law.
Good link. Thanks for the ping.
Because I may have to make DIY repairs to something in the office (or even to hang pictures), I have all of the tools necessary ... including a very large (the largest I could find) claw hammer. An excellent improvised weapon.
Also, as a keepsake, I have my late wife's son's cricket bat sitting beside my desk (below a picture of my late wife and stepson dressed in his cricket uniform). Another excellent weapon.
Finally, for my lunch breaks, I keep a pitching wedge (and some whiffle golf balls) next to my desk for my lunchtime practice.
I don't intend to go down running and hiding.
If they confiscate them, you're out the equivalent of no more than a couple of pounds if that. You would want to show extreme shock and surprise at the thought that a simple piece of plastic pipe for your home could be a weapon.
bttt
Except that the last couple of shooters were wearing body armor.
I have read several articles recently advocating all head shots vice “two to the chest, one to the head.”
One of the Dallas cops actually got a shot at the sniper, but the sniper’s armor protected him, and he was able to shoot the cop.
I am going to spend more time working on head shots on my next trip to the range.
Just a thought.
I’m retired now, but when I was teaching and we have an intruder alert drill I told the kids that if this was the real thing, I would be holding a bucket full of HCL to throw in the face of the first one coming through the door.
Our Constitutional Sherriff is retiring and his probable successor, depending on the coming election, sounds like he tends that way, too. Back when shooting pets was a widespread must-do for police forces around the country, two dogs were shot in a month here after none had been shot by police in my memory, at least. Our sherriff had meetings with all the local police forces in the county and explained to them that they were all trained how to handle aggressive dogs. He also explained that any more dog killing for any reason at all would cost the offending officer his job and get him bad recommendations. It hasn’t happened since. The sheriff can’t actually fire small town policemen but he can make things terribly difficult for the town police force if they don’t fire the dog killer.
For home defense we are a bit better off... in the UK we can buy a crossbow or bow... no license required... you just can’t hunt with them... target shooting only. But nothing to stop you from using them for home defense. I prefer the crossbow as you don’t have to hold the “strain” of a drawn bow. A “pistol” crossbow makes a good back up for the full size crossbow and add in some broad head tips for your arrows or bolts and you are set to go!
It defiantly takes you out of action for a bit and two will take the wind out of you even if the gun was not a very powerful one.
Even with body armor two to the chest will make you an easier target for the one to the head.
Part of the problem is the weird way cops are expected to respond. They are taught not to turn the guy into Swiss cheese which is fine when you are dealing with your average D&D. But dealing with an active sniper is an entirely different story and your shooting should be different as well.
I was trained by active and former military, (pre-PC days) and I was told that I should always make sure never to leave even a possibly active enemy behind me.
So I am a bit more ruthless then even the police probably would be.
Thank you for your insights.
This really is not an area I have much experience in, so I appreciate your input.
Guess I need to re-consider my targeting options.
And, of course, spend more time at the range!
