The First Lady, who was wearing a custom-made blue dress by US designer Christian Siriano, began the speech with a fun anecdote about her teenage daughters who arrived at the White House as children.
But the niceties soon morphed into a harsh criticism of the Republican nominee, as she declared her staunch backing for Hillary Clinton.
'This country is great,' she declared at one point, while firmly stating, 'I'm with her,' referring to Clinton.
Michelle's husband, President Barack Obama, was delighted with her words, tweeting: 'Incredible speech by an incredible woman. Couldn't be more proud & our country has been blessed to have her as FLOTUS. I love you, Michelle.'

The White House was pretty much totally rebuilt in the early 1950s. The Trumans had to move across the street into Blair House.

Thinking back to her comment about how for the first time in her life she was proud of America (when her husband was elected), I guess we can all conclude Obama beat Trump to it and has already made America great again.

During the Clinton administration, Hillary tried doing her own Jackie Kennedy type White House tour. She told the reporter that she was moved thinking about walking the same halls that Lincoln walked.
The White House was gutted down to the exterior shell, and even that has been replaced now with improvements made during George W. Bush's admin and Obama's admin.
Nothing left that was built by slaves, unless they made some of the furniture that survives.
